As a fan and season ticket holder I would love to see James get some playing time. I get that the coaches obviously know more than me and there are supposedly questions about his defense but he looks to be a scorer in the limited minutes he’s played. I would be willing to give up some defense in order to get more offense out of this team, especially when we are putting up 53 total points in a game. I’m not going to say anything negative about other players but it is obvious that this team is struggling offensively and some players look afraid to even shoot the ball. Let’s give James a chance to show what he can do.

I would agree. Last night I saw, too many times at least three, the UIC player had the ball outside the 3 point line and the Raider player left to look for the man he was to guard. At this point, they should be better disciplined. Wampler needs to go into starting line up for Hughes. Smith, Hughes, Manns and then Potter.

You guys need to give it up. Manns has had a year and 2/3 of a season to impress Nagy enough in practice to get some playing time. It isn't going to happen if it hasn't happened by now. I doubt he even comes back next year.

I don't see Coach Nagy playing Manns any more than he already has the remainder of this season. I would like to see Wampler back in the starting line up and I would like to see Smith and Potter getting more playing time. Those guys are our future along with Cole and Lou.

I don't have the inside scoop or anything even remotely solid to go on here, but based on the performance in games, the generous upside I see, and the lack of minutes played, it's certainly understandable to have concern over Manns' return. I have the same doubts of Potter.
I just hope Nagy is able to show them that with two seniors who played substantial minutes are exiting the program, the door is open for playing time and that they are vital pieces of this team going forward.

Potter has played in all 29 games and averaged 17 minutes a game. If you think he might be leaving you might as well throw Smith in that group too because he hasn’t played in as many games as Potter and only averages 12 minutes per game. They are true freshmen that have both had ups and downs this year. They could both potentially be starters next year. Worse case one is starting and the other is our sixth man. I think they both know that. The only reason I think Potter would leave is being homesick after the death of his step mother earlier this year. I hope he doesn’t leave and don’t think he is leaving but I guess anything is possible. I wouldn’t have thought Winchester was going to leave last year either.

My point about Potter is that I'd certainly like to avoid another Winchester, but Potter certainly has more upside than Winchester does and certainly has a bright future on this team. But I'm 400 miles away; you say there's no issue, I'm good with it.

I really hope Manns stays, as I think he could be a huge contributor down the line, but I don't think he should be seeing much playing time this year. He definitely has offensive upside, but his defense and awareness are big issues. He can score effectively, but his lack of defense could lead not only to points for the other team, but foul trouble for Love as he has to help more. I hope he has a big offseason, and is ready to step up next year!

The coaching staff sees Manns everyday in practice. There is a reason he is not playing. My guess, based solely on conjecture, is that he has some defensive deficiencies. Whatever the reason, I'm sure the staff has communicated that to James. He'll either have to improve to get game minutes or remain a fixture on the bench next year.

In the glimpses we've seen from Manns, his defense had been horrendous. He may be scoring against either scrubs or worn out opponents, but despite the 2 blocks on his stat sheet, he's been playing Olé defense.

Manns has been coming in from time to time as of late. Hoping he is a player that shines in play better than practice. 95% of the time practice shows what your capable to do in a game. There are a few that are lazy at practice but go all out performing in a game situation.

HHGREEN, have no idea of how he looks in practice but, comments about his defense could very well be based on the game action that I have seen. Like you say, seems like he is slowly getting more chances. Wish him luck, must be frustrating.

I'm not down on him for any reason other than I think he should be better than he is on defense after two years in the program. We went to a lot of effort to get him out of the High Point fiasco and I'd like to see some return on that investment. Unless he spends a lot of time in the weight room and works on his defense he's only going to get into the games that we've already won.

Even though his 43.6 points/100 poss. are high I believe his +/- is negative. In other words, he may light the world on fire with his offense, but in a 100 possession game he still comes up on the short-end due to his lack of defense.

Tremendous passer, eh? What the hell was Nagy drinking when he gave that interview? James has 1 assist in a total of 42 minutes played. For those that have seen live game action only Neff and Basile have fewer assists on the team and they, combined, have 32 total minutes on the court.
