Recruiting is the way we are doing it. We are finally getting better athletes than we have had in the past. Instead of only one player like that on the team we are getting a group off players like that. Our bench now would be starting in prior years.

Hard to believe someone can play 27 minutes and not score a single point without contributing much else on a stat line either but Parker pulled it off. Just don't think he had the athleticism to run with Clemson - no shame in that. Will be fun to see next year when any of the 5 on the floor is a threat to score at any given moment. We are going to miss a lot defensively losing Alan, Mark, and Parker but we should have a lot of offensive firepower. If the defense can gel quickly we could have a really special season next year.
Would have been amazing to get an NIT win this year but still a very good season - proud of our Raiders!

Our other starter, Alan Vest, played 12 minutes with 0 points and 1 rebound. So combined, two of our starters played 39 minutes with 0 points, 2 rebounds, and 2 assists. I said earlier that its hard to win games against good teams when you are playing 3 against 5 on the offensive end of the court. Next year we swap out Basile for Parker, and Hall for Vest. That should be a huge improvement for the offense next year.

drop, in three years we have one visit to the ncaa that resulted in a 20+ pt beating in rd 1 and we lost a first round game in the nit. Not my idea of a “golden age”. best I would give it is a stainless steel age, no more. that said, blaming a player who missed two free throws for a loss makes no sense. we just did not get the job done as a team.
tommygun you do not need to wonder what would have happened had we not gotten the one seed. we would have been in a poc tournament or sitting home. Not a great record and a sucky “net ranking” would have not gotten anything else.
I do think this would have been a radically different season if Winchester and hall had played. We would have been a much better team. I like our recruits for next year and think we will be better. but until we prove otherwise we are the second best program in the league.

I like reading that people are happy with Raider hoops and hopeful for the future. Nagy has done a very good job and happy he is at WSU.
This year was 21-14 ( 60% if you think all 21 wins are legit like I think ) and 13-5 in the conference. Strictly for comparing seasons: 2015-16 was 22-13 and 13-5 in league play. Both lost the HL championship team. ( Valpo was replaced by IUPUI since ).
There was a change after 2015-16 and that team didn't play after Selection Sunday.
We deserved the number 1 seed by tie-breakers. Makes me think of the year when the Big 10 voted for OSU to represent the league in the Rose Bowl. I think most considered NKU a little bit better ( appeared that another victory over the Norse still wouldn't have gotten us a better NCAA seed than theirs ).
I don't think of Winchester because he left but, Hall would have helped.
Recently, Coach Nagy says WSU is not interested in anything other than the NCAA or NIT. He played in something else at SDSU but, whether he controls the decision or not, I can live with that. Maybe 10 straight 20 win seasons without ever going anywhere may change that approach but, let's hope it never comes to that ( nice to be consistent with wins though ).

Everything depends on Nagy. If he makes WSU his home, everything should be golden, based upon his track record, the guy is a winner. I liked his quote in the article posted above: “We’re not the most talented team in the world, but our kids do play hard. The kind of year we had is the reason I came to Wright State, and hopefully we can build on it.”

One big positive was the Raiders were picked to win the league(I think unless it was Nku?) and actually basically won the league...so they lived up to the pressure which is something few horizon league preseason favorites ever do.
