I’m happy to see us winning/gaining the experience, but how are we going over there and stomping these Italian teams? What are they equivalent to here in the states? Division III? NAIA? Something else?

Something else? I think the competition in some of these games is the equivalent of high school basketball teams here in the states on the low end and D2 ball at the high end. That isn't the reason you participate in these foreign tours. The real benefit is you get 10 days of extra NCAA allowed practices before the foreign trip kicks off and all of the extra time the team gets to spend together gelling as a team while practicing and while on the trip. With all of the new faces we have this year, this trip is invaluable. The other added benefit to the trip is the recruiting aspect of it. There really isn't a ton of mid-majors that get to take trips like this. It's just another nice selling point to future recruits. |
