Is it too early to book a hotel room or should I wait?
At least he wasn't lazy and put NKU there just because they were the Horizon rep last season. Maybe he put some thought in to the auto qualifiers.
Kind of silly to publish this so early, but I guess that's how he makes his money.

He doesn’t put any effort into the mid major projections. I’m just disappointed he thinks so little of us to make us a 15 seed. I think we are going to win the HL this year. If we take care of business in our OOC schedule there is no reason we couldn’t be a 12-13 seed.

I have to admit big d, that puzzles me. Just curious, since butler left us has an hl team been seeded higher than 15. Not sure about that. Has the league won a ncaa tournament game since butler left? Not sure about that either. Lunardi probably regards this league as the Midwest version of the meac or maac or patriot league, so it is almost reflexive to assume we would be a 15 seed.
I think you make the path to a 12 seed sound a lot simpler than it is. If history is a guide our rpi will suffer as we play league games. If we schedule our usual obligatory two div ii/iii/naia/jc opponents .......just kidding about the jc opponents, at least so far, then we have a small number of games to build up a 12 seed type resume.
I think we will know if our program believes a higher seed is possible as the schedule unfolds. That will give us an idea how good we think we are going to be.

one other thought about our schedule. Have the final two teams for the gulf coast showcase been announced yet. It would be a real plus if those two are highly rated teams. We can score some resume points while we are working on our tans and golf game.

I just checked their website and they are still only showing 6 confirmed teams. This tournament historically has been a mid-major event, so I don't think we will see any teams from the top 7-8 conferences. Winning this tournament would be a nice resume builder, and going on the road and winning a game vs a top 6 conference team would be the icing on the cake. The fact that this team gets to play together in Europe this August is a huge + since Nagy and staff need to figure out how to integrate 2 grad transfers into the 8-9 man rotation. Winning the HL and sitting on 26-6 D1 record is about what we would need to have to get a 12 seed. If this team gels at the start of the season, I think this is an achievable goal. Go Raiders!

Since Butler left the conference: 2019 NKU 14 seed 2018 WSU 14 seed 2017 NKU 15 seed 2016 GB 14 seed 2015 Valparaiso 13 seed 2014 Milwaukee 15 seed 2013 Valparaiso 14 seed 2012 Detroit 15 seed
When you factor in that the seed for the Horizon League team was probably helped by upsets in other conference tournaments and that it doesn't appear the league will be any better next year, I would say a 15 seed is spot on.

The HL has fallen down into the to mid 20's in overall Conference rankings the last 5 or so years. It's hard to expect the winner of the HL to get much better than a 14 seed with our Conference ranking. Our conference is a boat anchor in regards to seeding our Conference Champion in the NCAA Tournament.

Most of those teams were not the top team in the HL that year. Almost all of them were tournament upsets that represented the HL. If we take care of business this year there is no reason to think we can’t get a 12-13 seed

When Loyola made their Final Four run in 2017-18, they finished their regular season MVC record at 15-3 and then won 3 games in the MVC tournament to get the MVC's automatic bid. Their overall D1 record prior to the NCAA Tournament was 27 -5 with a 48 RPI and the MVC having the 8th best RPI Conference ranking. And with all of that the NCAA rewarded them with an 11 seed. Maybe that was what they deserved but if any of us think our Raiders can get a 12 seed then they need to have the best season in our history as a D1 team. I think its possible. I can't wait for the season to start.
