We never had a chance in hell at an at large bid. That was all “coach speak” to try to motivate his players. Any college basketball fan that doesn’t have his head firmly planted up his rear end knows that no low major without multiple power 5 conference wins is getting an at large bid. We don’t even have any power 5 conference opponents this year and the HL is a low major conference now.

How do you vote player of the game for a guy who missed a free throw at the end that would have put us up 3? And led the team in turnovers with 4...and shot 50% from the free throw line. Billy scored four more points...had 1/4 the number of turnovers and was 100% at the free throw line. What an unbelievably disappointing game.

Like all of you, our coaches, and our players, I am not happy with the outcome of last night's game. If we would have made our normal percentage of FTs, got 1 more defensive stop, made 1 less TO, or just made 1 more bucket we would have won. We lost a close game to a very good team that would have been an impressive win on our resume at the end of the year. That being said, I also think last night was our most complete performance of the year. There was great hustle for rebounds and loose balls on both ends of the court. We cut down on our TOs. We scored from inside and outside and we got 9 guys in the scoring column. Most importantly our defense looked better than our first 3 games by a long shot. We all know our defense gets better as the year goes on and our players gel. We are going deeper into our bench than Nagy ever has before as a coach. All of those things translate to more success as the year progresses. We had over 4200 fans in the stands last night including a solid student turnout. We also had a top 100-150 recruit in the 2021 class in attendance. They all got to see an exciting and entertaining basketball game. I hope that translates into better attendance as the year progresses and more success on the recruiting front. I'm not happy about last night by any stretch of the imagination but I am most definitely not all feeling doom and gloom about our season either.
