Was an explanation of the foul on Loudon given? I thought maybe he passed gas and it as a fragrant foul. Has to be due to the fact that he hooked dudes arm and held onto it for a few moments after the whistle blew. But as I said earlier, it happens regularly. These officials were amateur all the way around. To be fair, lead official Terry Oglesby is not an amateur; not by a long shot. I'm not here to defend him, but he is one of the most experienced guys in the game. Kenpom has him as the third in the nation in his referee rankings (whatever that entails). BUT, the performance of his crew was assainly inconsistent, mainly because the other two refs are no name guys, which is pretty sad since there was only 15 games in all of d1 basketball tonight. Why the league can't get the higher rated officials to do Friday night games blows my mind. I think I blew my cork at least 3 times over refs making calls who were not in the superior position to make those calls. I've brought my history of sports officiating to this board before, but this crew clearly hadn't worked together previously, had some clear communication issues, and had trouble navigating the ebbs and flows of this game. It's just sad to see this so regularly in this league. I watch a lot of basketball, pretty much every night all winter, and these issues just don't exist when you've got an experienced crew on the court. Why can't we have that when there's only a dozen games going on.

In the played they reviewed, I thought the initial call was jump ball. If no foul was called they cannot review to see if a foul occurred. I know if they call a foul can review if possibly a fragrant foul.

If you look at Lou's expression just before he got up he looks like it was just a play where two guys fell down and got tangled up. No emotion at all.

drop, jb did mention tanner and bill in the same sentence. I think it was mostly a reference to tanner being cool under pressure just like Bill was. however, drop, I think he also made a reference to bill needing to watch out and I took it to mean tanner may threaten bill’s career records. bill averaged 15 Ppg and 7 rbs as a freshman. tanner is currently at 11-12 ppg and 7 rbs per game.
now bill increased his stats every year so tanner has a long way to go, but for jb to mention him like this is quite a compliment.

Maybe he said something to the ref who was holding him down to preventative scuffle? Like an F bomb they had to go lip read on replay or something? I'm just throwing out theories here. I didn't see anything, but I was also a Rasheed Wallace fan, so I know these things can come from as little as a facial expression.

I rewatched the game again this morning and say what you will, but this was some of the worst officiating I’ve seen in a college game. Inconsistent calls, varying calls by officials on the same play, just horrible all around.

Love missed a lot of the second half AND WSU only made 2 three pointers and still won? I'm still shocked. Gritty win. Hoping for another win tomorrow!
