39 fouls 71 free throws
We didn’t play well, but those stats are the hallmark of a poorly called game.
Thank god we can leave Wisconsin now; I hate that 2-game trip every year, regardless of record.

LOL at the notion this is the best Raider team ever. NKU didn't choke to either of these Wisconsin losers. But Wright State did. Wow. But Green Bay did beat NKU by 14 points at NKU earlier in the season. It seems this team doesn't play as well in the afternoon. The last 3 losses have come in afternoon games. Every single afternoon win has been a close game. If they are fortunate enough to make it to the NCAA tournament, I hope they don't play an afternoon game.

Thanks BigD for moderating, I was hoping you’d catch that first-time poster. 👍

Don't really have much confidence after this trip. Seems like we always choke up in Wisconsin and this time, its when we were projecting the best possible NCAA seed we've ever seen.
The amount of adversity we faced in these two games has been tremendous. Lose Love in the first game, and put Green Bay on the line for 43 free throws today. Really unwatchable when the officials take over the games. Sure seems like the league doesn't want a runaway and wants drama.
It is baffeling to me that we continue to not be able to defend without fouling. We were lucky to even be in the game when Green Bay had 43 free throws.
It's really an uphill climb from here too. NKU is healthy finally, and will likely play host to a play in game for the #1 seed on Feb. 29th, which is exactly what everyone but Raider fans want. It seems unlikely that we get a game back on NKU down the stretch, but YSU can be tough at home, so there's maybe a little hope.
College basketball needs to change. There are just too many fouls in basketball and it makes it so much easier for interior teams to play into games, especially at home.
Move on, regroup, but this sure feels deflating. I don't want to have to beat NKU again to win the league, but that's sure what it looks like we are working towards.

I think anyone that thought we were going to run the table the remainder of the season was being delusional. The HL does suck but it sucked last year too and we won the conference with 5 losses, going 13-5. We have 7 games left and the next 4 are at home. We need to get focused and realize we are going to get everyone's best shot. We have to take everyone seriously and play with the same effort and intensity.

Everyone’s gotta relax. This one sucks but the timing is definitely a blessing in disguise to refocus. Eyes on the prize. Go Raiders

we have two different viewpoints here, totally different , but both right. there is the come off the ledge, we weren’t going to run the table anyway, the good time to happen to refocus us group. well, you guys are absolutely right. we can still win the league, though we may still not be able to run the table, so we may end up tied and counting the tiebreakers. but we can still have the 1-2 seed and the byes that go with it. however, those losses combined with our sucky schedule mean in all likelihood a 15 seed and another 30 pt beating to add to our NCAA resume.
the other viewpoint that this was a really bad loss and it hurts us are fans who saw the lunardi projection of a 13 seed and their eyes lit up with the thought of going against a team we could beat in the NCAA. those fans are right as well . that is in all likelihood gone for good, who knows, maybe never to return.
one final thought. the mindset that we should not have expected to “run the table” should be banished. I thought we could run the table. when I saw the 13 seed projection I knew we probably had to run the table to get it. I thought we could do it but sadly I was wrong. I now just hope we can get out of our tournament unscathed.

We are going to be fine. The offense will start clicking again the next game. All these teams know us very well so they can play defense on us. Just need to change some things up some. Our two centers have to stop trying to force themselves into two and three defenders. When you play Love and he gets close to the basket you got to foul him hard and not let him make the basket. Make him beat you on the free throw line.
We have several games left and so does NKU and Greenbay. So they have their chances to lose as well. Any loss to any team besides NKU is a bad loss in the Horizon League.

Any loss to any team besides NKU is a bad loss in the Horizon League. This should be the common mindset. It’s possible for people to be pleased with the record and the season thus far, and also be upset about a loss to a mediocre HL foe. I don’t think it makes someone a “cry baby” to expect a win against an average Green Bay team this season. And we all know the team is better than they played today, another reason for frustration. It is what it is, and it’s time to move on and close out February with a purpose. I’d prefer this loss tonight than in Indianapolis, but it still sucks. Go Raiders

Let me start this off with I love Coach Nagy and hope he finished out his career here. He is a great coach and has forgotten more about basketball than I will ever know but I really wish he would change a few things up a little more:
1. With the exception of the NKU game we have started out our last several games very slow offensively. Today for example, we didn't score on our first 5 possessions. We had 2 TOs and took 3 threes. I really wish he would have a few set plays for the guys to follow to start off each game to get our offense running. I think we all know that for our offense to run smoothly we need to establish Love inside in order to set up our outside game. There is no excuse for starting the game with 5 possessions and Love not touch the ball. I'm pretty sure we started the second half today with a written up play to get the ball into Love.
2. I wish coach would call more timeouts to stop runs. I know that isn't his style and he likes to let his team play through adversity but it is frustrating as hell to watch a lead slip away in a 3-4 min run because we didn't call timeout and settle down our guys or to at least get the other team out of their flow.
3. I wish coach would do something when we go on these 3-5 minute dry spells every game where we cannot buy a bucket. My preference would be to call timeout like I mentioned above but I would be just as happy with an offensive substitution. James Manns is instant offense for us. I do not know why we don't have a few set plays for him where we bring him in during a dry spell and set him up for an open 3.
4. I wish we would change up our defense every once in a while to keep the other team thinking. I know coach doesn't like zone defense but why not throw in a token full court press or 3/4 court press when the other team is on a run to try to change the flow of the game. the only time we press is when we are down at the end of the game and need a turnover. I think our press would be better if we used it more often during the season and it would help in the above scenarios.

Wright State seems to struggle against more athletic teams as I think our best players are not too athletic so defensively we give up a lot at times. I think Wright State wins the league and still wins the bid. I thought this team is the first WSU team that could have a chance in the NCAA tournament realistically, but losses like today make you wonder. But even Butler struggled back in the day against teams you wouldn't expect them too struggle against when they had great seasons.
