Can someone spell out the scenario for tie breakers between 1-2?

Record against next best team in conference until there is a discrepancy in W/L between 1 and 2 against a team. They win that because of YSU loss.

Wright State beats NKU and they finish 1st and 2nd, respectively.
Otherwise, I think you go down the standings and look at results. It looks like YSU will be the first discrepancy, where we split and NKU swept them. Barring major changes in the standings this final week.

I was hoping that points against the other team would be the first tie breaker.

I get your point, Paul, but if we play the next game like we played the last two, we might lose that tiebreaker as well.

If NKU beats WSU, therefore they would split their two games and end up in a tie. Otherwise, WSU lost to the teams that are in 3rd, 4th, and 5th place in the Horizon. NKU lost to the 3rd, 5th, and 9th place schools. Seems like NKU losing to Detroit should be much worse than WSU losing to Youngtown, I would think this would give WSU the league championship. How can WSU losing to the 4th place school be worse than NKU losing to the 9th place school? Doesn't add up. I like your line of thinking, but that isn't the system.

The first tie breaker should be overall record

The first tie breaker should be overall record That is very dumb idea and would further weaken our already very weak conference. If implemented it would encourage every team in the HL to schedule the weakest schedule they could come up with so that they could just accumulate more wins. The tie breaker rules are what they are. Every school in the HL was able to debate the rule and vote on it before it was made a rule.

If WSU loses both games to NKU, but wins their first round game in Indy, that would give them a record of 25-8, that might get them an invite to the NIT. Maybe? I think we already have an automatic bid to the NIT. Even if we lose Friday we will still finish as conference co-champs with NKU. They would get the 1 seed in the HL tournament based on tie breaker format but that doesn’t change the fact that we are co-champs. Conference champs that don’t win their conference tournament get an automatic invite to the NIT. I don’t think being outright champs vs co-champs changes things for the NIT automatic bid. I guess this would be a good question for the next coaches show to clarify.

If we end up co-champs but then both teams lose in the Horizon League tourney then I would assume NKU gets the auto bid to the NIT since they were the higher seed. If this scenario happens I’m not sure if we would get an invite from the NIT and have two Horizon League teams in the tourney. I would hate to see this great season end with no post season tournament. Let’s just win out so we don’t have to worry about it!
