Was he going to be redshirted?  Is this a major setback for the team?  

Not sure if redshirting will even be a thing this year with the extra eligibility but he wasn’t going to get more than mop duty either way. It’s not a good thing but won’t affect the team this year.

It’s not really a setback for the team this year. Brandon was not going to be in the rotation. He was going to get mop up time in game at best. No one is redshirting this year since this year doesn’t count towards anyone’s eligibility due to COVID. Where this hurts is Brandon’s personal development. He is going to be rehabbing from his ACL surgery all season. He is missing out on the chance to go up against Lou and Grant everyday in practice and get the mop up minutes in games that he could have gotten. You can’t buy that type of experience he is going to miss getting to practice against and learn from Lou this year. I highly doubt Lou is coming back next year for a sixth year so Brandon is not going to get that benefit.

Apologies if this has been posted elsewhere. Looks like Wright State is opting out of the Illinois game due to positive COVID tests, quarantining and injuries. "The Raiders do not have enough athletes to compete with the amount of individuals who tested positive and those quarantining because of contact tracing as well as players with unrelated injuries."
