Alexander - 44 - suited up for three seasons in the red, white and blue from 1995-1998 and was a three-time All-League defender as well as First Team All-MCC as a senior. "I have so much respect and pride for Brian," said former head coach Perry Watson. "He was a tremendous competitor, defender and rebounder and was most of all, a great teammate. Everyone loved him and he overcame so much. He enjoyed his life and was giving back to young people with his charity organization and I know that we are all shocked to hear this news." Alexander averaged 8.6 points and 6.0 rebounds in his career, while shooting 50.1 percent from the field. His 114 blocks still ranks seventh in school history and was fourth when he graduated. As a senior, he posted 10.1 points, 7.1 rebounds and 1.8 blocks, helping the Titans tie a school record with 25 wins and a victory in the NCAA Tournament over the seventh-seeded St. John's Red Storm, 66-64. A native Detroiter, he graduated from Cody High School and played one year at Butler Community College before transferring to Detroit Mercy. Following his collegiate career, he played professionally for five seasons. He would go on to start the Coaches Association of the Brotherhood (C.A.O.T.B.) a non-profit 501c3 organization for charitable and educational purposes addressing its mission through programs and events. He also served as a high school girl's and boy's basketball coach and started the Alexander Colorado Club Program.

This is shocking. The timing in any other year is weird. But given that athletic departments are trying to cut costs in any fashion that they can, paying a guy who was under contract thru 2026 not to coach, is a weird way to do that. I heard they have a candidate already from a D2 or D3 school in state. Wonder if Amari Davis would want to come back home?

Wonder what else this could lead to transfer-wise.

I wonder if his opinion will change if they hire a D3 coach and the rest of his teammates bail ship.
