I know this thread is better suited for the recruiting board but there are more views and discussion on the main board. We have 3 open scholarships for 2021 and just filled the second spot last week. We now have commitments from point guard Keaton Norris and power forward AJ Braun. What does everyone think of our recruiting class to date and who do you think we sign with our last scholarship?

Personally, I love our 2 commitments. They both fit the mold of the type of players Nagy wants in his system. Norris is one hell of a shooter and he is a tough gritty type of point guard that we need to run our offense. Braun looks like a more physically mature version of Grant Basille when we signed him a couple of years ago. He can play inside and has a developing outside game. Both guys look like they play with a good motor and still have a ton of upside once our staff gets they in the weight room and coaches them up. Based on who else we were recruiting, it looked like we wanted to add another wing guard. Most of the guys we had offered committed elsewhere except for Trey Woodyard. He is the only open offer we have out right now that I know of. He is another big time shooter that would fit our system well.

You can never have too many wings and someone who can become a good defender is always welcome.

I'm pumped about both recruits. They both look like they can be impact players for us.

I'm really excited with the 2 commitments. I think they fill 2 of the biggest needs on the roster (PG and a big man), but they also seem like quality players who will fit in well. Regarding the last open scholarship, if the staff doesn't land Woodyard, I could see it being left open for a potential transfer to come in.

I'm really high on both of our recruits. I've seen both play last season and watched a little bit of some of their AAU games I was able to see this summer that were broadcasted online. They were good as juniors. They both stepped up their game this summer. I'm excited to see how much further they will develop by the time the suit up for Wright State.

I love our 2 commits. I think our coaches should just go for the best available recruit regardless of position with the last scholarship. They already addressed our 2 need positions.

We addressed our 2 need areas with our first 2 recruits. The last scholarship should be used on the best available player.

Could this be a reason we don't seem in a hurry to use our last scholarship for next year. Maybe we are saving it for Lou (our only senior) depending on what the NCAA decides to do.

Could this be a reason we don't seem in a hurry to use our last scholarship for next year. Maybe we are saving it for Lou (our only senior) depending on what the NCAA decides to do. I’ve been thinking about this a lot. With inconsistencies between colleges/conferences, rapidly changing schedules, and an expected wave of further infections in the winter months, what will this do not only to athletic eligibility, but collegiate enrollment, as well? Just on the sports side of things, does everyone still move up a year if there’s no season to be played? Are roster numbers expanded? Do you double the freshman class and keep the seniors eligible another year if this season doesn’t happen? The incoming classes of 2020-2021 only have so many slots. Do they go back to having freshman teams? Oh, and there’s the student-athletes’ academic careers in there, too. There’s a whoooooole lot of what ifs going on, but my guess here is that there won’t be a 20-21 season and next year is going to look way, way different. Fingers crossed for a positive outcome, whatever that may look like.

Fingers crossed for a positive outcome, whatever that may look like. They are currently playing college football. Once that happened, I don't see any way they are going to put the genie back in the bottle and stop college basketball from being played this year. There are going to be fewer OOC games and the stands are going to be empty or practically empty but they are going to have a season. I also think they are going to grant everyone an extra year of eligibility. I have no idea how they are going to get that to work but they already did it for fall sports, so I don't see why they wouldn't do the same for winter sports. In regards to Lou coming back next year, I think it's obvious our coaching staff would welcome him back with open arms. I have no idea if Lou would want to come back or if he would just want to get his professional career started.

That basically makes this year a free year for everyone on the team, eligibility-wise. The big news from this is obviously having another year of Lou in the green and gold if he wants to take advantage of it next year. A secondary benefit is there is no reason to red-shirt any of the freshmen this year since it won't count against their eligibility one way or another. I don't know if Coach Nagy was planning on red-shirting any of them but there is no need to now. We all get to see a sneak peak of them this year even if they only get mop up minutes.
