Would this be our tallest roster ever? I've been thinking about this and wondered if there was any quick easy answer to this or if one must make a spreadsheet and look over all the years of Raider history.

Well, the big question now is who replaces Lou in the starting lineup. My guess is Voss The good news is we have several months for guys to battle it out to earn a starting sport or increased playing time. I really like this team. I hope enough guys impress our staff to force Nagy to go 8-9 guys deep this year.

I was a big fan of Lou and will miss seeing him in a Raider uniform, but I am also excited to see what the new guys can do for the green and gold. I'm excited to see how Coach Nagy changes up his system based on his new roster.

Someone please correct me if I'm wrong but I believe we have 12 guys on scholarship this year. I am assuming we are done recruiting for this upcoming year since all the activity on the recruiting board is for 2022 recruits. How many scholarships are we going to have to use for 2022 recruits?

Someone please correct me if I'm wrong but I believe we have 12 guys on scholarship this year. I am assuming we are done recruiting for this upcoming year since all the activity on the recruiting board is for 2022 recruits. How many scholarships are we going to have to use for 2022 recruits? We do have 12 guys on scholarship next year: Voss, Manns, Basile, Finke, Wilbourn, Holden, Calvin, Huibregtse, Welage, Noel, Norris, and Braun. How many scholarships we have to use this year is a question that is really hard to answer. We have at least 2. We have 1 open scholarship not being used and Voss only has 1 year of eligibility that he will be using this year. The big question after that is who else might leave after this season. We have 3 guys that can graduate this year but will still have eligibility left. Manns is a 4th year junior this year. Basile and Finke are both 4th year sophomores this year. All 3 could return, grad transfer, and Basile/Finke could decide to go pro. With the new transfer without sitting a year rule that started this year, pretty much anyone else could leave after the season if they want to. I have no idea what any of our players are thinking in regards to their plans to stay or go. I think it was a great sign that the vast majority of our team decided to come back this year. I hope we luck out and keep the majority of the team together next year too. The best case scenario for us is that everyone decides to return next year and we have 2 scholarships available to use. I hope our coaching staff is looking at it from a worse case scenario and is constantly re-recruiting our current players as well as over recruiting high school and JUCO players for next year in case someone else decides to leave. It has to be an incredibly hard time to be a mid-major coach nowadays with the new transfer rules.

Trying not to be pessimistic about things, but Iβve had this odd feeling for a while that this is WSUβs swan song. Other mid majors are clearly going through the same thing. From a human perspective, I think the no-wait transfer is absolutely the right thing to do for players, particularly when coaches can hop from school to school, but it doesnβt help the little schools like WSU and the rest of the HL. With school budgetary cuts and enrollment decreases for all mid majors the big guys can have a field day. If local sponsors can give our stars the right stuff itβll be a different picture, butβ¦
*shakes self off* This is about next year roster, isnβt it?
Okay, our strength comes down to how well the new big guys start out. Without Love drawing all the attention, Basille wonβt have the same opportunities he did last year and I imagine his numbers will drop a little bit. Considering how crazy they were last year that may be inevitable anyway. Bottom line: itβs all up to the new guys underneath to determine how the season - and potentially the future of the program- goes.

Gerb, rules change all the time. Successful college coaches learn to adapt to these changes. I have faith in Nagy and I really like the new coaching staff he has put together. I really like to follow recruiting and I love the approach the new staff is taking.
