I was looking at some stats, and from my assessment the reason Wright State is losing so far is...this team can't shoot the 3-ball! They are a terrible shooting team so far. The stats are not kind.
-25% 33/134 from behind the arc as a team
-5 players playing the most minutes shooting 25-104 from behind the arc
-Calvin, Finke, Basile all below their career averages so far behind the arc.
-3 point shooting by game; 7-24 (vs. Lake Erie) 8-22 (vs. Marshall) 5-26 (vs. Purdue) 3-23 (vs. George Washington) 4-18 (vs. James Madison) 6-21 (vs. Long Beach State)
My hope is they can't be this bad shooting as a team all year. But I can't remember a Wright State shooting this bad over a period of this many games too often in recent years. You'd expect especially the veterans to start shooting better.
I would say otherwise they need to start taking the ball to the basket more. My concern there is I don't know if they have the playmakers to do that more often than they currently are able to do.
But I was stunned to see these stats. But this is one of the reasons they've gotten off to a pretty bad start. They can only get better I would think from here.

The title of your post is statistical reasons (plural) why we are losing but you only came up with our poor three point shooting percentage.
Here are the other reasons: Our defense has been atrocious. Can you think of another Wright State team in recent memory giving up this many points per game? Our rebounding has been sub par. Our starters are playing too many minutes Our bench has contributed very little scoring/rebounding so far this year. Braun and Welage gave us a little bit of hope this past week that they maybe able to step up and contribute more.

I didn't catch any of the Naples Tourney games so I'm behind in that regard. What I've seen thus far looks like last year from the standpoint of never figuring out a rotation. I know Nagy demands certain things from players, but at some point you have to play the guys that you recruited.
A team without a true PG isn't going to drive to the basket all that much. Our shooting has left us...for now. We aren't playing well defensively and our rebounding is not impressive. Coach keeps pounding the square peg into the round hole (ie. Calvin & Norris on the floor together).
It's a polarizing belief, but if our defense sucks (anyway) and we can't shoot, why isn't Manns out there? We know his defense is lacking and he's the best pure shooter on the team...so at least we get something out of those minutes. For Neff to get minutes over Manns is ridiculous. (I love Neff and any walk-on like him. These kids have tremendous work ethic and fortitude.) It reeks of coaching to the level of "my way or the highway...especially in practice"...and we don't have the horses to do that. I watched a guy last year do whatever the heck he wanted...and still played big minutes.
If we have recruited guys who can't get on the floor, then we are either not coaching well-enough or not recruiting well-enough.
Now that Braun has played, I assume he cannot redshirt - I can't keep the rules straight. If he now can't redshirt, I'd play him until we/he get it figured out. Not ideal, but neither of the other 'big' guys brought in to help are doing much.
With conference play about to start, I hope we have a plan to not wear out our starter like we did last year. It wasn't sustainable last year and it won't be this year either.

I don't know why our inability to rebound is surprising anyone. Our starting center has taken 1/3 of his shots from 3 point range. When he is out there shooting 3s (and not making them) we have 2 SG and 2 PGs on the court with him trying to rebound. We need to get back to what worked for us in the past. We need to be playing 2 bigs and tell Grant to get his ass under the basket. He has taken 23 three's this year and has only made 3. He took 40 total last season. I want to see him and Braun start. If one comes off the court I want to see Wilbourn or Noel on the court subbing for them. I don't know why Noel hasn't been playing. If he is healthy we need to get him on the court and start gaining some experience. I want us to play 2 big guards at all times. Holden and Finke start. Voss and Welage sub in for them. We only play 1 PG at a time. Calvin and Norris can battle it out for playing time. I have nothing against our walk ons but I don't want to see Neff on the court except in mop up minutes. Any playing time he is getting is taking away from time on the court we should be giving Braun and Noel and they need all the experience they can get. I don't want to see Alex Huibregtse on the court until he shows that he can be more than a 1 dimensional player. All he tries to do is shoot 3s and he has been a horrible 3 point shooter since he has been here. I know he was a good 3 point shooter in high school but that hasn't translated into him being a good shooter in college. The same can be said for Calvin. He needs to focus on creating shots for his teammates and creating high percentage shots for himself. Chucking up 3s when you are shooting 22% is not helping this team win. And finally, I don't want to hear any more about James Manns. He is in his last year here and he isn't going to play. Our coaches should have been blunting honest with him last year and encouraged him to transfer somewhere else where he could have played more. They should have used his scholarship and our other unused scholarship on 2 SGs that might have actually helped us this year.

Nagy has been the beneficiary of coaching 3 players in his head coaching career that have been exceptional Mid-Major talents, those being Nate Wolters, Mike Daum, and Loudon Love. Add in Cole Gentry, who I believe is one of the best PG to wear a Raider uniform, and those players were instrumental in Nagy's success. Unfortunately, this year's squad just doesn't appear to have a " bell cow" player to carry this team to victories. Basile may be that type of player, but aside from the Marshall game, he has come up short. For him to carry the load, he needs someone to make perimeter shots. Calvin isn't it, nor is Hubregste. We lost Malachi Smith, Skyler Potter, and Jeremiah Davenport in the class with Basile. That left a huge gap in our talent level. Its showing up now. Winning is all about the Jimmy's & Joe's, not the X's and O's. So in essence, Nagy has had a few misfires in recruiting. 3 impact players he recruited left the program, for reasons we don't know, and those recruited to replace the 3 that left are not as talented as the ones that bailed out. It's unfortunate, but that's what has happened. We are short of the Jimmy's and Joe's right now.

If we kept those guys, we would be a loaded team right now, but we haven’t been able to replace them with another transfer like Wampler. Our transfers haven’t really worked out to this point so we’re lacking depth and playmaking.

Braun and Welage gave us a little bit of hope this past week that they maybe able to step up and contribute more. I was impressed with their play last week. I also like Voss. I hope he is over whatever kept him out of the tournament and is ready to play this weekend.

I agree on Riley Voss i believe he will be a solid player in conference play. In the Marshall game he drained 3 straight 3's and the 3nd one he knew was going in before he even released it. AJ Braun hopefully starts seeing 20+ mins a game he looks cool as a cucumber out there. Yes he will still make some freshman mistakes but I think he can average 10/6 in league play as well.
