I know this game didn't have any meaning as far as seeding goes for the upcoming HL tourny but it sure feels nice to get back to .500 and have a little momentom going into our opening game. We have now won 3 of our last 4 games.
Their were a lot of positives today:
+ 15-9-7 this was the stat line for Dashuan. 15 pt., 9 reb., & 7 assist. He played 39.39 out of 40 possible minutes.
+ 21-9 this was Jordan's stat line. Can you imagine he was 13-14 from the line. This kid is going to be an animal over the next three years. If he can shoot FT's at 68% over the next 3 yrs he'll avg. 15 ppg.
+ Drew has to be the hottest player over the last 4 games. Once again today he had 19 pts. He jump shot is almost automatic right now!
+ It was great to see Zach go out with a bang. 19 pts.
+ Jaron had 6 pts & 7 ast. I still wish he would shot more.
+ Zakee finished with 14 pts, mostly from the line.
+ We out rebounded them 43-25. That is flat out getting it done!
+ We outscored them on second chance pts 21-2. I loved that we played the bigger line up of Drew, Jordan, & Zach over half the game. This line up gives us a powerhouse on the boards and creates many offensive rebounds.
+ Did I mention that Jordan is only going to get better!
+ The one bad area was our perimeter defense. They ate our zone alive.

Today was a good way to end the regular season. I hate UWGB and received emence pleasure from taking the last bit of hope they had for the NIT away today.

Just a couple of observatoins. First, Everrett Spencer only played 16 minutes on Sunday. I think this is about the minutes he should be playing. He is still learning and as we wind down and head into the Horizon League tournament we need our most consistant players on the floor the majority of the minutes. Second, even though Zach played 35 minutes I like how coach Biancardi subbed for Zach approxiametly 3 times per half. Granted it was only a minute per break but it at least allows Zach a chance to catch his breath and get a drink of water. I really believe all those "little" breaks he gave Zach makes a difference. He did the same with Drew, giving him several "mini" breaks.
It has been mentioned here before but when Drew, Zach, and Jordan are in the game at the same time it sure makes us tough to keep off the boards. I realize that this lineup can only be utilize if the matchups are "right". For instance, against Butler they run a three guard offense so Drew may not be able to defend the other teams guard. Of course it could be that we (WSU) dictates the matchups and that Butler has to go "bigger" because their guard can't defend Drew in the post.
Go Raiders!!
