Back-to-back games where we pounded it into the paint to have a double digit halftime lead and then seemed to stop going there in the 2nd half.

Tbh this season is as bad as it can be. We can do mental gymnastics and say the teams we lost to are better then the HL but the reality is we still do not dominate the league. Even with the best on paper wsu team, Love's last year, we under achieved. We don't talk about it but we were so lucky to beat NKU in the finals. Watch that last play again, NKU choked and pissed away a wide open shot.
We need to win almost ever game to bring some recognition to the team in the area. We will continue to be a 16 seed but honestly who cares we have shown we cant beat a top 25 team. Blowing these leads is becoming tiresome. We become a punch line like the browns is the browns.

Final score 85 -76. WSU had the lead with about 6 minutes to go, but ran out of gas Too many scoring droughts in the 2nd half.
Two disturbing trends all season long: 1. turnovers, and 2. giving up ~50 points in the 2nd half (47 tonight).

The coach has a long history of starting the second half slowly if we have 8 point or more lead. Many basketball coaches start playing a different game trying to protect the lead. The team should come out playing like they are behind by 10 points and not leading by ten points.

Illinois State just looks ... bad. They are shooting 26.7%, and are 1-11 on three point attempts. For most of the first half, Trey had outscored their entire team. At the half, he has 20 to Illinois State's 21.
On another note, Tanner hasn't contributed much offensively. As much as I was looking forward to his return, I'm a little underwhelmed. I am encouraged by the freshmen, though.

It's nice to only allow 21 points in a half, but I don't think it's really due to improved defense; the shots just aren't falling for Illinois State. Hopefully after two poor 2nd half performances, the Raiders put the pedal to the metal and close this one out.

The disbursement of minutes is a huge plus and hopefully something we have the opportunity to continue to do in order to keep fresh legs later in the season.
That said, if you can’t handily beat a team that shoots 9% from deep and 27% for the game, you’ve got huge problems.
