Perhaps because every time we go beyond our 7th player (after Drey and Andrew), the other team goes on a run? Or more correctly, the other team continues to score at the same rate, but our scoring rate drops precipitously, so the net effect is they go on a run. . Perhaps, our younger players would show improvement offensively if they were given legit minutes with the same leash that Nagy gives his upperclassmen. I find it amazing that he will yank one of the freshmen after 30 seconds on the court if they make a mistake, but he lets some of our upperclassmen make mistake after mistake playing major minutes and doesn’t do anything. The definition of insanity is to do the same thing over and over again and expect a different result. If we continue to roll with the same lineup we are going to finish around.500 at the end of the year. We aren’t going to go on a magical run and finish the year dominating the conference with this shitty defense. Our upperclassmen have peaked. They aren’t going to improve on either end of the court if they haven’t shown that potential by now. That is the big difference to our underclassmen. None of them have scratched the surface on how well they can be and they need to get experience. I honestly would rather finish 12-18 rolling with the freshmen more than finishing 15-15 with the upperclassmen. I’d rather start getting the young guys ready to play major minutes next year by going through their growing pangs now than to watch it happen next year. This year is a bust either way, why sabotage next year too by not preparing the young guys now.

OG Raiderfan, why have you already thrown in the towel on the season? I refuse.

But this game is really giving you that feeling? This defense is what it is. I feel relieved after what I saw tonight, and laughing at some of my previous comments this season. Maybe Ralph was right if the offense is good enough…..either way this is fun basketball.

Of course, nobody can ever expect any team to continue to score at the rate we did the first 8-10 minutes tonight. That was most impressive! Let's hope we can continue that against YSU on Friday. Agree. This felt obvious tonight. Nagy left the starters in longer tonight, for one, but everytime we saw more subs than Drey it showed a drawback in overall play. Still glad to see them getting minutes, it’s a small sacrifice for the future.

But he also has a tendency to put in multiple subs at the same time. Which disrupts both ends of the court. I'd rather see 4 starts and 1 sub, then 4 starters and another sub. I'd definitely rather see that then 5 starters until 2.5 minutes left in the game and 5 subs. What a waste of time that was.
Two road wins and feels like we've turned a corner. We will see.

A big reason for the 3 game streak is Alex and AJ. Alex has 21 assists the last three games and he is playing more consistently on both ends. Yes, the big three of Noel, Calvin, and Holden are key, but Alex and AJ are doing more of the things the team needs than they were before. Still a long way to go before we can think this team is where they have usually been in the conference, but winning two straight on the road looks even bettwr since it followed up the CSU win.

To further evaluate the game I review the Horizon league box score. This shows a very detailed evaluation of the game.
