Kentucky baseball has announced the addition of Chase Slone to their staff. The WSU website shows that Slone and Hendrickson are not back on the staff.

As reported by Yahoo Sports..................Scholarship limits will be eliminated for the 2025-26 school year for D1 College Baseball and Softball. The roster limit for baseball will be 34, with all players receiving full scholarships. Schools will have the ability to grant up to 34 scholarships. I think you will see a lot of schools not give the full 34 scholarships because of budget constraints and I think Wright State is in this group.

It looks like the university has removed the job posting for the asst. coach position which probably indicates they have found someone. A short list of possibilities that I think would fit well…
Western Michigan volunteer asst. Dane Armbrustmacher: Pitched for WMU so might be hard to pull him away but could be looking to make a move up to a paid position.
Xavier asst. Riley Bertram: Played at Michigan and Clemson. Works with infield and hitters. Would fill Slone’s void.
JMU asst. Travis Ferrick: Former Dayton coach, works with pitchers. This is a serious reach as I doubt he would want to work for the “rival” but could be a home-run hire.

Ferrick will also serve as the program's recruiting coordinator. "I could not be more excited to welcome Travis and his family to the Raidergang," said Sogard. "Travis is a relentless worker and will bring great energy to our program and players. He has done a great job recruiting, developing pitchers and young men, and I'm excited for him to make an immediate impact here at Wright State. He will be a great asset to our program as we strive to continue producing quality student-athletes that achieve at the highest level." "I want to thank Coach Sogard for giving me the opportunity to come and be a part of the Wright State Baseball family," Ferrick added. "My family and I are extremely excited to contribute to the winning tradition that is Wright State Baseball. I'm eager to get to work with the players and staff and help continue to bring Championships home to the Raidergang faithful!" Ferrick comes to WSU after one season at James Madison University where he served as the program's pitching coach. At JMU, Ferrick helped the Dukes reach the NCAA Regionals for the first time since 2011. Ferrick oversaw JMU's pitchers threw the second most innings at JMU, the most since 2011, as well as the fifth most strikeouts and tie for sixth most saves. Under Ferrick, Joe Vogatsky was named to the Midseason Stopper of the Year Watch List, ranked second in program history with nine season saves, and was one of three Dukes to be picked in the 2024 Major League Baseball Draft. Prior to JMU, Ferrick spent six seasons across town at the University of Dayton as pitching coach, with the final three seasons spent as the top assistant coach and recruiting coordinator. In Ferrick's 2023 season, the Flyers pitching staff set the program record for strikeouts in a season (552) and ranked nationally with an average of 9.6 strikeouts per nine innings. That same season, Dayton had the top recruiting class in the Atlantic 10 Conference and a top 100 class nationally. With the Flyers, Ferrick oversaw the drafting of pitcher Mark Manfredi in the 2023 Major League Baseball Draft. Ferrick got his collegiate coaching start at Army West Point, serving as a pitching coach for the 2017 season. While at West Point, the Black Knights set the then program record for strikeouts in a season (402), while their relievers recorded 11 saves, placing them fifth in program history. Their pitching success led to a 10-game turnaround and their first conference tournament appearance in three seasons. Before joining the Black Knights, Ferrick was a teacher and coach at Osbourne Park High School during the 2015-16 school year. He was also the head coach of the 15U Stars Travel Baseball team from 2014-15. Ferrick graduated from Boston College in 2015, earning a bachelor's degree in history and secondary education. Ferrick was a letterwinner on the baseball team, earning ACC All-Academic honors three times. Additionally, he was the awarded the team's Sonny Nictakis Award, which is an award that recognizes a player wearing number eight who represents a person that has overcome adversity and whose character represents the team well. Travis and his wife, Rachel, have one daughter, Kennedy, and reside in Kettering, Ohio.

On Tuesday, Nebraska announced it has signed a five-year contract extension with baseball head coach Will Bolt. The contract will run through 2029 and increase his annual salary to $500,000.
This is what RaiderGang is competing against. Indiana Coach Jeff Mercer is making round $400,000/year.
I have having trouble getting a good number for Alex Sogard, but I think it is maybe $120,000 per year.

It is important to note that Wright State is VERY poor as an athletic department. 219/232 schools on the below website. Considering that there is barely any revenue that the baseball program generates, it cannot be justified to pay a significant amount. Do I think the baseball coaches have deserved a higher salary? 1000%. I just wish it was feasible in our financial plan. Need some of the Big Leaguers to chip in some money where the program/athletic department can allocate elsewhere.

Runt I’m not sure we we can ever compete with the big 10 for salaries but I hope that we are better than competitive with the Mac, the mvc and other similar conferences.
