WRIGHT STATE Raiders tap Kamp as cross country coach She also will take over women's track program at WSU. Dayton Daily News FAIRBORN — Wright State has named Sylvia Kamp as its new men's and women's cross country and women's track coach, taking the place of Bob Schul, who founded the WSU programs. Kamp has been assistant track and cross country coach at the University of Florida the past three years. Prior to that, she was an assistant at Xavier and Butler. She is a graduate of Centre College in Danville, Ky., where she ran cross country and was NCAA Division III All-Southwest Region in 1998. Schul, who in 1964 became the only American to win the 5000-meter run in the Olympics, began the WSU program in 1973. A few years later, the program was disbanded but he brought it back in 1999 and started the women's track team in 2001. In other WSU coaching news, Paul Mangen has been hired as an assistant swimming coach after being head coach at West Virginia Wesleyan College the last two seasons. Also, Ken Huber, former director of basketball operations for the men's team, has taken a similar job with Florida International and administrative assistant Dennis Kazimir has taken a job as an assistant coach at Tiffin University. www.daytondailynews.com/sports/content/sports/wsu/daily/0615wsucoaches.html
