I would be very happy to make the trip to Duke to see that game. But the MS game, with a return game here at WSU, would be better for the program IMO.

At this point in time I'd take any quality opponent. MSU would be ideal, but that has to be an extreme long shot at best.

Based on the trimming of the athletic budget, I wouldn't be surprised to see the emphasis for the remaining hole in the schedule to be changed to a road money game (or games). That may be the quickest solution to add money to the coffers instead of working an H/H deal.

That may be the quickest solution to add money to the coffers instead of working an H/H deal. Long term, we are much better off with a home/home deal. You make much more money on a decently attended home game than you can get for a buy game. I'm not against us taking a buy game vs the right BCS program though. I don't want to see us go to Duke to get our ass kicked for a paycheck. I think that hurts our program more than it helps us. I would prefer us scheduling a middle tier BCS program that we have a chance to compete against.

Raiders nearly land premier conference team on schedule By Marc Katz, Staff Writer Monday, August 3, 2009 FAIRBORN — Wright State continues to look for one more game to fill out its men’s basketball schedule, but almost had a dandy. For the second year in a row, the Raiders nearly landed a premier Atlantic Coast Conference team on its schedule. However, unlike last season when Wake Forest hosted the Raiders in a nationally televised game on Fox, Duke declined to invite the Raiders to its Cameron Indoor Stadium for a December game on ESPN. “It’s a little disappointing,” WSU coach Brad Brownell said. “It would have been a great opportunity. It was a good game for our guys to challenge themselves.” When WSU played at Wake last Dec. 22, the Raiders were only 2-6 (they lost their first six games) and were without their best player, Vaughn Duggins, out for the season with a broken finger. Wake Forest was ranked No. 11 in the nation at the time, on the way to an eventual No. 1 ranking, although the Demon Deacons didn’t stay there. Wright State lost the game 66-53, and generally acquitted itself well, then went on to win six straight games. “We were just putting ourselves together then,” Brownell said. “But any time you can get on national television, that’s good not only for the basketball program, that’s good for the university.” The Duke game would have been of the same ilk, and the Blue Devils had plenty of choices, ultimately choosing another team. For the Raiders, it would have been national attention without many perks: a probable loss to a perennial top-10 program, a road trip, no return game and a small guarantee. It’s a game the Raiders would have played, though, gladly. www.daytondailynews.com/dayton-sports/wright-state-university-raiders/raiders-nearly-land-premier-conference-team-on-schedule-234369.html

The game would have been great for recruiting. Anytime you can tell a recruit they can see you play on National TV it's a good thing. It would have been great for our RPI/SOS for post season play. It would have also been great for building our player's confidence. The Wake game was a turning point last year for many of our players.

It would have been nice to say Duke was on our schedule, but I'm kind of glad they aren't. No one wins at their place. I'd rather play somewhere we have a shot at picking up a win.

Utah State and Seton Hall might be options for our last game. Here is everyone's ads on basketball travelers:
WSU: Could go on the road DEC 16th to start a H/H, but really need to start H/H series @ Wright St. Dates available afternoon of 11/22, possibly Dec. 10, Dec. 16/17th or Jan. 19th.
Utah State: We are STILL looking to start a home and home series ON THE ROAD this season with a return game in 2010. The dates we have for this season are Nov. 16 or Nov. 21.
Seton Hall: Seton Hall is looking for at least one guarantee game and would start a Home and Home series with a BCS opponent ON THE ROAD. The following dates are available for us at the Prudential Center in downtown Newark, NJ (we do not play on campus) 11/23, 11/24, 12/5, and 12/10.
Utah State is a day off on when we can play the game but we are looking for an afternoon game so it might be doable for them. They were 29-4 last year with an RPI of 23. Very good team to add to the schedule.
Seton Hall is looking for a BCS program but it's getting late in the summer and they might start considering us since we both have the same open dates. They were 16-15 last year with an RPI of 101.

Utah is a little to far to travel. With the economy the way it is, i dont think WSU is going to want to travel to Utah next year. All that aside i would love to play them. A very under the radar good program. But can we get this done, I want to get my season tickets lol.

Traveling to Utah wouldn't be a problem if we could schedule them.
