Raider Fanatic, it might be an incredible bit of luck to get a player of Vince Edwards caliber to come to WSU but, it would explain how such a thing could happen. I didn't think Ray Jr would go to Detroit just because of his dad. Anyway, Roadtrip or fans like him should think that way. My problem is wondering if both parents need to push such a thing. The Edwards kids have certainly gotten great treatment over the years when they have attended games. I know one of the Edwards was dead set against Bill Jr going to WSU. I doubt that is going to change for Vince.

I think Roadtrip was hinting that it might help with a certain potential recruit. If Bill is associated with WSU then that should already be an advantage this time around. Can't speak for Billy but, I'd bet he likes the flexibility of being able to watch his kids play without the burden of being expected to travel with one particular team ( not involving one of his kids ). Always happy to see Bill Edwards so, not against it but, I'm sure Coach Donlon doesn't need my help in finding someone to replace Bates. I have to agree. I don't think Bill would want to give up the freedom his current job offers him to see his kids play and I don't think his wife would be too happy with him being on the road all summer recruiting. I would love to be wrong, because I think Bill would make a heck of a coach. I just don't see it happening.

I heard that Roddy had knee surgery today. Anyone know how bad it was and if he will miss this season?

WSU or the DDN will put something out on Roddy when it is appropriate. Until then, let's give the young man his privacy. If you follow him on facebook or twitter, that is your prerogative, but don't post his comments here.

Wright State freshman forward Jacoby Roddy will miss 6-9 weeks after knee surgery Tuesday for a meniscus tear. His name isn't on roster yet, but 6-7 freshman Steven Davis (Ind. Manual) is at Wright State and will be on team this year.

Good news on Roddy. I was afraid we lost him for the year when I read he had knee surgery.

This is posted on the roster web site: Steven Davis Biography Courtesy: WSU Athletic Media Relations Release: 09/25/2012 Notes: Redshirt for 2012-13 season...as a high school senior, averaged 20.9 points, 7.9 rebounds and three blocks for Manual and played for the AAU Team Blaze...for Manual, he scored 20 or more points seven times with his high of 30 points coming in early December. He also grabbed double-figure rebounds on four occasions while shooting 57% (71 made) from two-point range and 67% (29 made) from three-point distance...honorable-mention all-state..son of Tatonya Davis...one older sister... caoched by Jim Merlie and Vince Stennett...born September 12, 1993 Opti This is how we find out about Davis? Our athletic department is a complete joke and I am getting sick of these clowns. We have known about Davis thanks to this board for weeks now and our athletic department finally got around to adding him to our roster and this is all we get. WTF? Are they too lazy or just too stupid to put out a simple press release so our fans could know more about this kid. Bob Grant needs to put down his cell phone and stop playing on twitter like he is a college kid and start doing his freakin job. He needs to get a SID that wants to work for WSU, not just some idiot looking to pick up a paycheck. Hell, There are a dozen fans on this board that do a much better job promoting WSU athletics for free than these idiots are doing while collecting big salaries. They drive me nutts. If nothing else, can they at least use spell check before they post something on the official athletic site. Jim Merlie is a coach, not a caoch.

I feel G&G's pain too. I cannot tell you how many times over the years I have noticed that the hts/wts of players are different in our media guide compared to game day programs compared to our on-line roster. Honestly, it's not hard to copy and paste this information from one area to another without getting it wrong and it's completely unacceptable to not run a spell check program when you are getting paid to do it. These type of stupid errors reflect poorly on WSU. First rate athletic departments would find this unacceptable.
The complete lack of information we have gotten from Wright State this summer is also completely unacceptable to me. I've been a season ticket holder and donor to our athletic department for over 30 years. I shouldn't have to wait until the beginning of September to find out our schedule from WSU when all but 2 games were known this past spring (and all games were already released on this website). I shouldn't have to wait until the end of September to see a final roster when it was known in August by everyone on this site. I shouldn't have to find out that one of our assistant coaches left from an out of state newspaper, this website, and the DDN when it still hasn't been released by WSU. I shouldn't have to find out that players transferred to another school or decided to graduate and not use their last year of eligibility from this site and the DDN.
If our AD really wants to know why attendance continues to decline, it's pretty simple. You treat your fans like crap. Not only did they take away most of the perks to being a season ticket holder last year, they now cannot take the time to issue simple press releases to keep their ever shrinking fan base informed on what is happening with the program. I love Raider Nation message board, but it shouldn't be my only real source of information on our program.

Well, Davis being ineligible & Roddy having surgery sure takes the wind out of our sails. Can I revise my season win prediction??? I don't believe Roddy is expected to miss any games.

With regard to the lack of communication from WSU over the past 8 weeks, maybe they just needed to concentrate on preparing the players and the team. Speak softly (or even be silent) and carry a big stick. Let's hope the product on the court speaks loudly come November. Horse crap. Donlon, his coaches, his strength and conditioning guys, and our players needed to focus on preparing for this season. Our SID needed to focus on doing their job. They get paid a very good salary to inform our fans. They aren't doing their job.
