Opti, I'm not willing to give a pass on lack of communication, either. I was reading on the other board a post about an email on Steven Davis...I didn't receive the email so, I thought maybe WSU didn't have my current computer address and signed up...you know alot of sites confirm this stuff before you have a chance to even get a look at updated email...by the time I got back from lunch, still no confirmation...thought maybe I used a comma instead of period so, I tried again...just checked and still haven't received any confirmation ( how many days later? ). Disappointed with DDN, know the writer did some Dragons stuff as well ( but there is other things wrong with changes on that site ). Maybe Bates was responsible to get the info to the right person...his departure caught me off guard. Anyway, I think all players should be treated the same...if they are going to change the roster as things take place then they ought to follow the same procedures. WSU asked us to send a deposit before we knew what to expect...barely got the schedule before the balance was due and we still didn't know the official status of players ( that stinks in my opinion and they shouldn't ask for money until the schedule and roster is known ). Finally, on the Quick Reply, I don't see the spellcheck option.

You are correct. Spellcheck is only available if you use the full reply option.
In regards to the DDN, our beat writer is covering the Dragons and high school sports right now on top of WSU. I'm willing to give him a pass right now. Besides the other sports he has to cover, I don't think Wright State has been doing anything to make his job easier. If you read DDN articles on UD, you can tell that UD is spoon feeding their beat writer what they want to be published. Our beat writer isn't getting much help at all by WSU. Heck, I've sent him e-mails this summer to let him know what has been going on with WSU. At some point in time, someone at WSU needs to realize our beat writer is an asset to the program.

I generally agree with the sentiments expressed above. I particularly agree regarding Davis needing to gain muscle and weight. When it was first announced I saw his weight and height and thought it must be in error. I'm 6'3" or more and weigh 215 at present. True, I should weigh less. But he is 6'7" and is under 200 lbs. That is skinny, especially when playing inside. I would hope he'd be at least 200 lbs. by this time next year.
In spite of some of the tone of messages being posted here, I hope we can all support the teams that take the court for us this year. The teams deserve that, and our soccer teams are solid teams this season. I know volleyball is struggling, but I think the new coach will bring us around over the next season or two. I expect good play by the women's basketball team this year and better play by the men. And I expect baseball and softball to play well next spring. I don't follow the other sports, but they seem to be competative.
We have a lot to look forward to with the Reds, OSU football, and WSU athletics and I'm excited to see the basketball teams swing into action very soon.

Roddy is already working out. I don't think he is going to miss much if any practice time. He should be a contributor to the team this year.

In spite of some of the tone of messages being posted here, I hope we can all support the teams that take the court for us this year. Unfortunately, I think this team is going to have to go out and prove them self on the court before the fans are going to come out. Attendance has declined year after year and I don't see that changing unless Wright State puts together a big season.

I don't know why you would think his injury was degenerative in nature. He's 18 y/o. You don't get many teenager athletes with degenerative problems.

Anyone know where we stand with the hunt for a new assistant coach?

3 great moves by Donlon. Promoting Mullins should be an overall upgrade from a recruiting standpoint over Bates. Mullins has better connections and I think he will connect with recruits better than Bates was able to do too. He doesn't bring the experience Bates does in player development, but that is the upside of bringing in Donlon Sr to the staff. He is going to bring a wealth of experience to this staff. Adding Bill Edwards is also a great move. Even though he is just a strength and conditioning coach, he is a legend and will have instant credibility with players. I love all 3 moves.

Director of basketball operations also does a lot of the ground work for scheduling. Donlon Sr's coaching connections should help with future scheduling.
