Anyone care to share any thoughts on the basketball luncheon? I'm considering going being that I've graduated now. Is it an open Q&A with the coaches or just short appearances/pre-written speeches?

cincy, i have been to the luncheon many times. they have often had an excellent guest speaker. clark kellog one year, mark adams another. they usually have lecrone speaking. and then the two coaches give a brief, vanilla overview of their team and coming season. there have often been q & a, one year with lecrone. i cannot remember if the coaches took questions or not. food is pretty good, but no diet coke. if they do take questions i hope someone challenges them on the sorry schedule. i hope that helps you make a decision.

With the verbal commit from Benzinger we may now have zero, one, or two open spots for next season, depending upon what happens with Sledge and Vest. Sledge could already be in our past given his current situation. Vest could play this year and be done with his four years of basketball.Or one or both of them could be here next year.
So as it sits right now we know we have Yoho at 6'6", S. Davis at 6'7", Dan Meyer at 6'9", and Roderick Davis at 6'8" for next year. We may also have Gossard a 6'6" walk-on senior. So for right now we are looking at a roster of 4 big men and 9 guards and small forwards for next season. That sounds like what Donlan would consider his ideal team composition. But it seems to me that the rest of the HL is getting bigger. I hope that if another spot does open up for next season that we exclusively look for another big man to fill that spot. I don't think any team can do well in the HL with only 4 big men. Five "bigs" is the minimum requirement and six is even better...or find some SFs that can box out and rebound like Don May.
