It's a sad day when we lose one of best best coaches we have had at WSU. I wish him, and our new baseball coach great success in their futures.

Wasn't hiring Billy Donlon a "no-brainer" according to our AD? Nothing against Mercer, I hope it is a no-brainer.

Coach Lovelady is expected to accept the head coaching job at UCF this week. Good Luck Coach. You will be missed. Damn, I feared this was coming. We're losing a really good one. Lovelady was far better than his predecesor, Rob Cooper.

I think the difference is that Donlon was never a great recruiter. He couldn't build off of Brad's success because he couldn't build a full roster of D1 talent. I have hopes that Mercer can keep the baseball team on the right track because he has been our lead recruiter here and has done a great job bringing in talent for several years. He may fail as our next coach, but I have high hopes that he will be successful too.

Donlon's hiring was a no brainer because Brad's contract supposedly called for Donlon to replace Brad when Brad left, so the AD had no real input into the "hiring" of Donlon.

Good luck to Coach Lovelady in Orlando. Do it again, Grant...I imagine the department had to see this coming so hopefully we've got a jump on the search. Oh the athletics department saw this coming. BG did not offer Lovelady a raise after this last season or the season before. Especially with the $$$ being handed to other coaches and programs it had to be upsetting. False. Lovelady saw a $25,000 raise each of the last two years in addition to the built in bonuses due to his successes.

WOW! That's easily the best resume I've seen for a new assistant coach at a mid-major. Looks like a hell of a hire.
