Here is a crazy stat. 4 of the top 10 scorers in the NCAA are in the Horizon League.
2. Alstork WSU 3. Peters. Valois 5. Dixon. UIC 9. Morse. YSU
Of course none of this means your teams wins but just shows you the league has some players that are pretty good.

NKU is a #15 seed in the NCAA...playing Kentucky
Valpo and Oakland are both #7 seeds in the NIT. Valpo plays at Illinois and Oakland goes against Clemson.

I take it we opted out of the lower tier tourneys, then. Correct?

I didn't participate in grading Coach Nagy's first year. I thought the regular season was fine.
My goals as a fan of a mid-major are: top 3 finish in the league, 20 wins ( and I know there is zero margin of error ), and postseason ( any invite will do ).
Seeing 5 teams from the HL playing on and not being one of them makes me embarrassed. On the other hand, this is the first time that I didn't care if a Raider team played on ( and there were years when we had zero chance of that happening ).
Good luck to the ones playing and to the lady Raiders.

mrose, I understand that and we've all heard the pros and cons of anything other than the NCAA and NIT. If I were a current WSU student, I wouldn't care that WSU has been to the dance 2 times in the 30 years of D1 basketball. If that is what you are waiting for, I'd pick another team to root for.
We are in the HL, I am not comparing myself to Big 10, ACC, or any other league. The HL is what it is, 5 teams play on and we can't be one of them? I wouldn't want a coach or player that wouldn't welcome an opportunity to play ( if I felt my school was holding me back, I'd think about a change ).
I thought the Raiders had a chance in Detroit. I thought some of the other teams made it a little easier of a path if we came ready to play. After it was over, I didn't get a sense that anyone had the stomach to look forward to Selection Sunday. Sad.

I take it we opted out of the lower tier tourneys, then. Correct? The university is 20 million in dept in this years budget. There is no way we could pay to play this year.

Tommy, I'm not comparing the HL to a Power-5 conference nor do I expect half the league to play in a tournament. But if were going to dream about playing in the post-season at least let's have a good dream and not one of mediocrity.
Take the CIT for example.
The CIT has 26 paid participants this year. Of those 26 only Eight teams come from conferences that aren't rated in the lower-third, 21st or worse, of all conferences. Georgia State & Texas (Sun Belt #13) Ball State (MAC #14), Samford & Furman (Southern #15) Canisius & St. Peter's (MAAC #16), and Ft. Wayne (Summit #18).
Two teams that actually PAID to play in this tournament have LOSING records against their D I peers, Campbell 14-17 and St. Francis (PA) 15-16.
Quite frankly, I'm Happy we didn't pay to play the likes of those programs.

We have spent 40 million more than we will make this year alone. We went into this year with 27 million debt
