Bottom of the 8th: Sasse just hit his 4th HR of the day and Wright State is now down 22-16 and then Vore smacks his second HR and it is 22-18.
Edit: Hold it, Boston Smith just cracked a HR and it is now 22-19.

Not trying to be a buzzkill, but is this really baseball?

Miami 22 (21 hits) RaiderGang 21 (22 hits)
Nine HRs by Wright State--Sasse (4), Vore (2), Manley, Luikhart and Smith.
Wright State used 12 pitchers, 14 walks three HBP and 238 pitches
Miami used seven pitchers, seven walks, two HBP and 212 pitches.
Wright State's lack of control is puzzling. I have never seen a pitching staff from a good program this poor. It looked like Wright State was starting to turn the corner as the pitching had been slowly improving, until this happened.
Zach McDonald was named player of the game with a 4-6 with one HR performance. I would take Sasse with his 4-5 and four HR performance.
RaiderGang heads to NKU for three games this weekend.

Not trying to be a buzzkill, but is this really baseball? Batting practice?

The box score is just ridiculous. 12 pitchers for Raidergang, and all but the last (who faced one batter) gave up at least one walk, though none gave up more than two. 8 of those pitchers gave up at least one run, and 7 gave up multiple runs. So it was a true team effort.
For all the HRs WSU hit (9!), Miami "only" hit 2. I'm guessing it was windy, and the wind was blowing out.

Silly question. When the Raiders play at NKU, do they drive back and forth for each game, or do they stay in hotels?

On the road!
🆚 Northern Kentucky 📍 Highland Heights, KY 📺 ESPN+ (Friday & Saturday) 📅 Friday | 2pm 📅 Saturday | 1pm 📅 Sunday | 12pm
Wright State 18-14 NKU 20-11
RPI WSU 171 NKU 148
Wright State holds the all-time record over NKU 48-14, with their last matchup being in May of 2023, where the Raiders won 7-3. The Norse were last victorious over the Raiders in April of 2023, winning 9-5. Wright State has won nine of their last ten matchups against the Norse.
Flip a coin on this series. I think Wright State will continue to pitch by committee, since no one on the pitching staff has emerged as a stopper.
I am in Cincy this weekend, so I want to get two a couple of the games to eyeball the team in person.
If you come down for a game or two, bring a chair to sit on. It is kind of like going to a youth game. They do not charge for the games.

Well, that sucked.
And that Luke Arnold at bat was interesting. I don't understand it. I understand pulling Boston for. Defense, especially at SS, but could have used his bat one more time.

NKU 15 WSU 14
Up by two in the bottom of the 9th, all Wright State had to do was get three outs in order to get the win. As has happened so often this year the pitching couldn't hold the lead giving up a walk-off HR.
RaiderGang only used five pitchers today and hit five homeruns.

Both games were an adventure to watch. WSU led most of game 1, but the bullpen couldn't close it. Big 7th inning in game two, and bullpen again made the bottom of ninth an adventure, but they held on. Should have won both games, lets get them today in the series finale.

Ben Vore has been tearing it up all season, but this weekend is in a horrendous 0-for-x slump. Lets hope he breaks out today. Andrew Patrick starting to show signs of getting his timing back, but hasn't hit for power much since coming back. If we can get those two going, and the 7/8/9 hitters continue to produce, this is a very dangerous offense.

Slight lineup change for game 3. Sass moved to LF, and Manley is catcher. Already paying off, as Manley hits 2 run HR in top of 2nd. Raiders up 3-1 early. Chet Lax pitching

Julian Greenwell grand slam puts the Raidergang up 7-4 in the 4th. Heading toward another double digit scoring by both teams kind of day.
