Fultz 2 run HR, then doubles by Greenwell and Sass make it 15-9 at the 7th inning stretch. Up 6 going into bottom of 7, sounds very much like the last two days.

Peters strikes out the side in the 8th. 16-9 good guys headed to the bottom of the 9th. Can we get one more inning of good pitching?

Final Raidergang 16, NKU 11. As always, the pitching wasn't pretty, but they held on. Both teams with 14 hits, but 5 of Raiders were HRs. NKU left 12 runners on base, so we're starting to get some two out stops.
Next up, on the road at AN Ohio St U on Tuesday.

RaiderGang defeated Northern Kentucky 16-11 on Sunday afternoon, taking the weekend series 2-1. The win came in part from two grand slam home runs by Julian Greenwell. The Raiders are now 20-15 overall and 10-5 in the Horizon League. The Raiders finished with 16 runs on 14 hits with eight walks against their seven strikeouts. They were led by Greenwell's four hits, tallying eight RBI. Sammy Sass closely followed with three hits, while Andrew Patrick and Boston Smith each added two hits. Patrick Fultz, Nate Manley, and Ben Vore each added one hit on the day. Wright State recorded nine extra-base hits, with a double each by Greenwell, Sass, Smith, and Vore. Greenwell recorded two home runs, both grand slams, while Fultz, Manley, and Patrick each added one homer on the day.
Pitching seems to be improving. as the coaching staff is figuring out what they have with all these young pitchers.
NKU has was of the crappiest Div I fields I have ever seen. The good news is they have a big hill beyond the leftfield fence. No one seems to mind if the fans smoke a few cigars during the game. I was smoking cigars with a few of the player's fathers.
After the game, I spoke with Coach Sogard for about 10 minutes. This is the first time I have spoken with him. He follows me on X, so he was somewhat familiar with me. He said the players are starting to get their confidence after playing some tough teams to start the season. At the same time the coaching staff is starting to get a handle on their young pitchers as they are figuring out the best way to use each pitcher. I think a lot of these freshman pitchers were thrown into the fire a little quicker than the coaching staff had planned. They are past the halfway point in the season, I think there will continue to some bumps in the road, but the pitching staff is better than it was three. weeks ago. With the track record of this coaching staff, I never doubted they would get this train back on track at some point. Two weeks ago, to a lot of fans the pitching staff looked almost hopeless. Things look better now.
Finally, Andrw Patrick's broken hand is getting better by the day. It seems that he is getting close to 100 percent. A healthy AP makes this potent offense flat out scary.

Over the week, the Upper Arlington, Ohio native averaged .611 at bat, recording 11 hits in 18 at-bats against Miami and Horizon League opponent Northern Kentucky University. He finished the week with eight extra-base hits, including his four midweek homers, as well as three doubles and another home run against NKU. Raidergang pulls one out of their a$$ in the top of the ninth, then the bullpen blows it in the bottom of the ninth and tenth. Trailed 8-3 going into the 9th, and only had 4 hits. Then scored 6 in the 9th, including a two out, three run HR by Vore to go up 9-8. Of course, the relief pitchers (after 4 straight scoreless innings) give up one in the 9th, and one more in the tenth to lose 10-9. Oiy this team is frustrating to watch -- so much hitting, so much potential, so many close losses where we pulled defeat out of the jaws of victory.

I know they are dealing with injuries, but there were 3-4 plays - not counting the 3 errors - where a better defensive player would have gotten an out.
Awesome offense. Bad pitching. Poor defense.

Agree, the defense was bad, especially at 2nd base. The outfield throw by AP to third seemed fine, but no one covering the base when there was a runner on second was perplexing. Why was the 3rd baseman in the cutoff position rather than first baseman?
