So madness, I am not 100% sure what your point is but perhaps you are saying that our assistant coaches deserve the credit for our hitting. Hmm. Do we have an assist coach in charge of pitching?? If we do maybe you should name him and give him “credit” for our pitching. It just seems kind of phony and inconsistent to assign the head coach responsibility for one part of the teams performance but not the other part.
Here is a radical thought. Let’s blame our pitching woes on the arms of our pitchers. Hmm. Makes sense to me.

I'd give the starting pitching a C, and the relief a D. The staff has a lot of live arms, but many are just freshman, and have good outings followed by bad. The overall theme is they give up way too many walks and HBPs, and those freebees always come back to bite you. Defense is a C at best, but with an asterisk that with so many players hurt (especially infielders) that many are having to play out of their normal position (It's been so bad that we've had one of our catchers playing shortstop several games). The relief infielders have been solid with the routine plays, but struggle with their range and turning a double play.

Crazy game against an Ohio St Univ today. At one point WSU had 12 runs on only 5 hits! Our pitching staff gave up 14 walks (ugh!) and we still found a way to win. After blowing the lead (again) in the top of the ninth, they rallied in the bottom. Two outs and the tying run on second, Manly drills one off the pitchers glove. Throw to first probably would have had him for the final out, but the pitcher threw it into right field. Greenwell then hits a walk off single.
Barely got the game in. The rain then started coming down as I was driving out past Nutter. So if it had gone to the 10th, they would have been playing in a steady drizzle, which then steadily increased. Good decision to start an hour earlier.

Good win by Raidergang today. Nice to have Luke Arnold and Gus Gregory back in the lineup, and it showed with the infield defense looking very solid. Grrnwood and Arnold were each 2 for 3, and Sass was 3 for 4.
Good pitching all day, and Shirk was really battling (a lot of full counts and long at bats where he stayed with it). PFW never really threatened much, just a few runners ever got past first base.
Only complaint was Raidergang left too many on base (14 total in 8 innings). But overall a good win, and nice to see a baseball score rather than a football score. Lets do it again tomorrow, and pack the Nitch for the 7 graduates who will receive their diplomas on the field before the game.

RaiderGand 11....12 hits, 1 HR Luikart PFW 4....7 hits
Who was that team playing at the Nisch? The offense looks kind of familiar, but the Raider pitchers only allowed 7 hits. That is two well pitched games in a row. I am not ready to say the pitching has turned the corner, but RaiderGang pitchers are headed in the right direction.
Wright State is now sitting in first place in the HL and only two spots away from being a Quad 3 team in the RPI.

Another solid pitching performance by Raidergang today. Well, until the 8th when successive pitchers could not find the plate and did not record an out. Simpson went 5 scoreless innings (4 hits, 4 walks, 1 HBP), and pitched his way out of several jams after walks -- twice with 2 on, and in the fifth with bases loaded and nobody out. Griffen Paige then followed with two solid innings (1 run, 1 hit, 1 walk, 1 HBP). In the 8th, Laisure walked 2 and gave up a hit, then Kessel was pulled after he threw 5 straight pitches no where close to the zone. Hartzell then came in and pitched well (1 hit, 1 walk 3 Ks in 2 innings), although Laisure's 3 runners all scored on a double.
I'm not sure whether the pitching staff is starting to come around, or if PFW is just a bad hitting team. I'm leaning toward the latter.
Bats were also back alive today, 12 hits and 11 runs. Wind blowing hard straight in from right kept the ball in the park except for one Luikhart HR.
Let's hope for more good pitching and hitting to complete the sweep tomorrow.

Oakland has lost the first two games of their series with last place YSU, and NKU got swept in a double header at MKE today to lose 2 of 3 in their series.
So Raidergang is now two games clear of Oakland, and a half game ahead of NKU, will be 1 full game ahead with a win tomorrow.

If you think RaiderGang has pitching probolems.....today Georgia jumps out to a 9-0 first inning lead and then ends up getting run-ruled by Texas A & M 17-9.
