Bob is not that old. He is right around 60 years of age. This is not a great day for WSU. Grant has done a nice job. I guess he won't have to make any tough decisions regarding the basketball program.

I wonder if they replace Bob with Scott Nagy, will he replace the Men’s basketball coach?

+1 Figured he'd be around for quite a while when he got the main gig here.

Baseball would have been cut years ago if it wasn’t for Bob Grant’s intervention. It costs a fortune and doesn’t bring in anywhere near the revenue to justify it compared to other sports. He has championed the program to keep it going. He has also made hire after hire that kept the program going for the last 20 years. He hasn’t built the indoor practice facility you want them to have but otherwise he has done right by that program.

Big D, you are so correct. Bob did great job navigating through the problems created by former niversity president. Happy to see you posting again.

Nice article in the DDN today with some quotes from Bob about his reasons and Coach Nagy on his future here Wright State athletic director Grant stepping down after 16-year run www.daytondailynews.com/sports/wright-state-athletic-director-grant-stepping-down-after-16-year-run/PLIKV2I4YFEKHJKQ5LHH73D3BY/

Do we think Joylynn Brown is next? Reading the DDN article it sounds like that is the tentative plan and I hope that isn’t true. It’s the easy and cheap hire but I’m concerned it isn’t the right choice. I think they need to post the job and do a real national search. If Brown ends up being the best candidate, that’s one thing but I have concerns that she is qualified to do the 2 main functions we need out of our next AD. We need someone that has experience hiring coaches and we need a big time fundraiser. Bob Grant has made all of the hiring decisions since he has been here and overall has done a great job. Brown has no track record to look at in that regards. I don’t want a rookie AD making those choices. We can turn into IUPUI in a heartbeat if our AD makes a bunch of bad hires. We all know the financial woes we have had in recent years. We can only except the university to provide so much Financial support to the athletic department. We need an AD that can bring in donor money and I have been underwhelmed with Bob Grant’s ability to do this in the past and by extension I’m not sure if Brown will be any better. I really hope we can find an up-and-coming A.D. from a lower division that has had successful programs and has shown the ability to fund raise. Wright State should be an attractive job for those types of candidates. We shouldn’t just give the job to someone currently in the department just because they are currently in the department when there are better candidates available. Brown has been with us for a very long time. If she truly is a good candidate to become a head A.D. why hasn’t another D1 program hired her away from us?
