Well stated, BBallJones. Approx. 11 months ago I believe many of us had high expectations for this year's team. Then backtrack to early Dec. this season, after a transfer in the offseason and a season ending injury to a key player along with a poor showing in Mexico, I'm not sure many fans realistically thought a top-3 finish was in the cards.
Congrats go to Nagy, the staff, and all the hard work put in by the players.
Not to jump ahead to next season, but I have higher expectations for next year than I did back in late March last year of this season. By my count we have 6 returning players with significant minutes and production. This is most likely for the recruiting thread, but is it possible for someone (Big D) to put up a scholarship chart? In a month from now, and the future, it would be nice to see who's returning and what 'ships are, or will be, opening.

We really don't have many more opportunities for quality wins. Even if we take care of business in the HL and ooc it won't show up on the radar of voters.
Tomorrow's game vs. UK has been cancelled/postponed. We're trying to find an acceptable makeup date both teams can agree too. I really wish the athletic dept. wouldn't remove cancelled or postponed games from the schedule (as we did, do). UK has it listed as postponed. For prospective recruits, fans, media (voters), other coaches want to see who Wright State plays or is scheduled to play and it helps leaving those games on the schedule. For crying out loud, we removed our 3rd game of the series at Ole Miss too. The Rebels have it listed correctly--Cancelled.
As far as losing to Utah that one hurts. They're a middling program in the PAC-12, but the PAC is arguably one of the best conferences in the country and will probably finish rated #1 or #2 in RPI this year. Beating Utah would have paid off really good dividends all season long in RPI.

Spotting Utah 4 runs in the first didn't help. Raiders lose 12-8. All 12 runs scored by Utah were earned.

If we beat Utah tomorrow, as we should, I don't see us being ranked. Perhaps we'll pick up some votes and be listed as "others receiving votes." That would be a good start. I think there are still some questions about how good our pitching is.

Raiders beat ECU 12-4. Our overall all record is now 4-3. 3-3 vs. Top-20 teams all on the road. And not just top-20 teams, traditional powerhouse programs. Pretty damn impressive.
It's a quick turnaround as we play Utah tomorrow morning at 10.

WSU may have caught a very fortuitous break this weekend. Weather suspended the Utah/ECU game this evening in the 6th inning tied at 4-4. Utah will play their regularly scheduled Sat. game vs. WCU at 11 AM and THEN resume their suspended game vs ECU 45 minutes later. Remember, that game is tied 4-4 going into the 7th. 45 minutes after the conclusion of that game the Raiders play ECU. Then Sunday the Raiders play Utah....

LeClair weekend brings in teams, beer sales: "...this year’s field is strong yet again with Wright State, Utah and Western Carolina. Wright State is one of the more consistent and possibly underrated mid-major programs in the country. The Raiders, who play in the Horizon League, have won at least 38 games each of the last four seasons, highlighted by a 46-17 record in 2016. They are 2-3 this year, having already played weekend series at Ole Miss and Oklahoma State." WEEKEND WATCH Peyton Burdick, Wright State: WSU does not have a home run through five games, but it has allowed a total of nine to its opponents. Burdick, an outfielder, hit nine homers in 2018. This year he has a .313 batting average with five walks, but his lone extra-base hit is a double. www.reflector.com/ECU/2019/03/01/LeClair-preview.html

FWIW, the Raiders began the day ranked #13 in RPI.
Tomorrow's game will be live streamed on ECU's video network (not sure if there's a subscription $) and on ECU's radio network.

Raiders won their first game at Keith LeClair Classic at East Carolina beating Western Carolina 5-3.
Up next for the Raiders is a 4:30 game Saturday vs. #14 East Carolina and then a Sunday tilt vs a P-5 Program (Utah).

Tremendous passer, eh? What the hell was Nagy drinking when he gave that interview? James has 1 assist in a total of 42 minutes played. For those that have seen live game action only Neff and Basile have fewer assists on the team and they, combined, have 32 total minutes on the court.

Even though his 43.6 points/100 poss. are high I believe his +/- is negative. In other words, he may light the world on fire with his offense, but in a 100 possession game he still comes up on the short-end due to his lack of defense.

I agree with '09 and I'm not so sure it's all that unpopular. Felton is bitching 'cause that's what he does. Every coach that's not in the top 8, 6 or 4 will. They could go 0-18 in the regular season, but if they win the conference tournament and go to the NCAA they'll keep their job...and probably get a bonus too. And, like hh said I like a field of 6. If this rumor is true, that would be a good compromise. Give the top-2 a bye, but in this league if you're not in the top 6 you don't deserve to be given a chance to get lucky and somehow win the tournament so you can embarrass the rest of the members on national TV by being exploited by the #1 seed.

With ties (2-way) the IVY simply had a one-game playoff. I believe home court was simply picked by a coin-flip.
There are really only 2 reasons to have a conference tournament. 1) is $$$. Big time conferences simply use it as a money-maker. 2) Bid stealing. Back when the HL was good (Butler days) we stole 2 bids. 2007--Wright State. 2009--Cleveland State. BU received an at-large selection both years.
IMO, the reason the Horizon LeCrone wants only a 4-team tournament (if rumor is true) is because 1) the HL can't make money and 2) the Horizon LeCrone has sunk so far down it's impossible to steal a bid, so might as well try and protect the 14 or 15 seed-line from becoming a play-in game and the negative connotation that comes along with that tag.

If they are going to limit the Horizon Tournament to 4 teams why should the NCAA start out with 64. Should be conference tournament champion that goes to the NCAA and that is it. It used to be that way....years...decades ago, but the NCAA expanded. However, the HL could easily send the regular season champ to the tourney as the auto-qualifier. All the HL has to do is put it up for a vote. The IVY did that up until a couple of years ago...no conference tourney...regular season winner goes.

Just looked at the CBS Bracketology, upadated Feb 24, they have Wright State as a 15 seed playing against Tennessee again. Palm explained that we can't play in Columbus. The NCAA needs to protect the top-4 seeds in each region and a #14 or #15 seeded Wright State is too close to Columbus...thus giving us an unfair home advantage.
