I'm not sure if anyone on SUI Insider forum has any inside information, but a few on there seems to think that Nagy did not take the job. SUI Insider forum linkIt also sounds like Nagy would be the style as their last coach: old school, struggles with the portal, and red shirts freshmen

Looks like Cooley's salary is $200k. I'd gladly take a 150% increase for a new job. Hiring him would be an easy move tbh. It's hard to believe that no one would have talked to him when he was here for the play in game. The easiest move of all is throwing more money at Nagy and extending his contract. If he was still invested or if the program believed in him, it would happen. Clearly both sides are ready to move on. D, I don't think you have to worry about Trice. That would be an unheard of jump. Essentially going from almost all of your experience in HS to D1 head coach. Usually there would be some stop as a head coach at d2 or d3 lol.

I'm surprised another school would offer him after the last two years. He blew a lot of huge leads, looked uninterested, bad clock management, refused to try a press or zone when man to man wasn't working and it doesn't seem like he'll adapt to the transfer portal. He must be confident we'd suck next year and he won't have an extention. I was excited to see thus freshmen class play but who knows if that would have even happened.

YSU transfer John Lovelace Jr. Why? Why are some of these guys even on our radar? Imo we didn't lose much via transfers but we of course lost a lot with Trey and Tanner. They should have been prepared for that though...at least you'd they would be. What's the strategy here? His stats are pretty bad tbh

If anyone on here knows Bob Grant or can put a bug in whoever is making the next hire, please for the love of God make sure they have no affiliation with the horizon league.

Hope you right, but some school is going to do it soon, and then more will follow. Have you benn to PFW for any sport? I don't know how they stay D1 - total ticket sales of $80k for all sports in 2022. I have been to many basketball, soccer and baseball games. Not many students at those events, especially the latter. I doubt WSU is getting $90M of media marketing for their investment. sports.usatoday.com/ncaa/finances/206604I think WSU has gotten many millions of dollars in mentions on national media. I find people all over the county recognize the name WSU Raiders. I'm in Ft. Myers now and a ton of people recognize Wright State. For instance, when RaiderGang lost o UT with the walk-off HR in the bottom of the 9th three years ago really help put WSU on the map. A lot different than 15 years ago. That's crazy because it's like no one on the Dayton area knows or cares about WSU. But seriously people don't know shit about our athletics. We keep falling behind the curve while the team across town keeps raising.

My predictions just for fun Braun mid tier D1 (A10,big east?) Welage Indiana?? Or a smaller D1, somewhere in Indiana. Anderson D2 Good luck to all. Welage is d2. He somehow regressed each year and was pretty bad outside the Indiana game. A lot of bad decisions. I was a Welage stan but he just didn't have it.

Dang would have liked to see Anderson play. Wish him the best. Love our players but tbh now that our best two are graduating, I don't think it matters who we lose. We have been mid two years in a row and I'm not seeing much progress. Mostly Nagys fault for not developing the bench. He needs to adjust and bring him some actual talent from the portal.

The wrong hire could further wreck this program. Hopefully it's a home run and it takes us to new heights. But as I watch the selection show and see a local team get an at large bid, I feel like we just can't get out of irrelevance in this area.

Is Nagy a candidate for these MVC openings in Illinois? nobody wants old school Nagy lol Yeah I agree. He'd probably need consecutive tournament appearances.

I don't disagree at all about all the talent we had that transferred. We can get the talent, we can even develop it, but we can't seem to win. That's all that matters when you're in a low tier conference. Edited Note: I believe this is Nagy's final year on his contract. I don't think there's a way we could give him another extension if he can't win next season. There's no way we could afford a buy out of 600k on X years. I don't see Nagy signing on for just one more year too. Coaches would need a guaranteed contract with more then just one year. They'd be stupid not to do that. Do you mean this most recently completed season was his last or this upcoming year (2024-2025). Last reported they added years in 2018 to end through 2023....they must have extended it again a few years somewhere along the way (I thought he had two more years left after this year). Ecb123 - I thought this upcoming year (next year in my mind since the ncaa tournament is not concluded), 24-25, is his last year. I'm not 100% but thought in past discussions, this is it. They'll let him finish out regardless since we can't afford a buy out.

Jerry I hear what you're saying but being 11th in the big 12 is like a guaranteed horizon league regular season win and sleep walking to win by 20 plus in the hl championship. It's not comparable, imo. The other teams you mentioned that left the hl, I understand what you're saying too. But we aren't lighting this crap league on fire. So yeah I'd much rather leave and finish near the bottom in decent conference, then finish 2-6 in the HL. Imo, not winning the HL is just as good as finishing in last place. No one in the country cares what team finished 2nd place in the HL. Also if we somehow were able to get out of the HL, it'd more then likely benefit our baseball team.
