This is what happens when all these kid jump into the portal with no plan. For AJ’s sake I really really hope he got a really nice NIL deal because he just transferred to a shitty losing program on the other side of the country. I don’t like it but I understand when a kid wants to leave to get more playing time or if they are good enough to move to a higher level program. This move makes no sense to me.

Looking at the NET, Western Athletic Conference is ranked number 14 for the 2023 - 2024 season, the Horizon League is 20th. In the RPI WSU is number 177 and Cal Baptist is 245. Considering the turmoil at WSU right now, Cal Baptist may be the better team next year. Have to assume the weather will be nicer in Riverside in January.

So you are making the argument that going to one of the crappier teams in a better 1 bid conference is a smart move? Cal Baptist is not going to make it to any post season next year. They just aren’t. We might have some turmoil going on here but AJ didn’t make an upgrade in his decision to transfer. He left Wright State assuming he was going to have a lot of great options. He quickly found out that he wasn’t going to get the same type of offers Grant and Tanner got when they left WSU in the past. So at the end of the day, he is moving to the other side of the country to play for a losing team in a 1 bid conference so he could go to a small baptist school with good weather. If that is what makes him happy I wish him well. I think it’s going to end up being a decision that he regrets in the long run.

AJ didn’t leave because he wanted bigger schools to offered him. He left because him and Clint had words last season and didn’t want to play for him.

Good luck AJ go be great.

So...K Brown goes to D2...Welage opts to no longer play...and AJ goes to a school that I had never heard of before. That's pretty strange IMO.

I think you can't take any of this personally, especially these days with the nature of transferring...I don't think Braun was looking to upgrade necessarily like Holden or Basile to a big school. From his standpoint, he's got one year left, and while I don't know him, he had a chance to go to a Faith based University that may be a big part of his decision making, to a nice campus, with a pretty cool Arena...and maybe help Cal Baptist take their program to the next level....As opposed to staying at Wright State that's had a couple very average years, his Coach left, they're most likely going to kind of be in a transition year where they will probably be picked in the bottom half of the league. Not a knock on Wright State...just the reality of the situation.
It's just a different time now with NIL, transferring...It's probably never going to go back to the old days where you could watch 3-4 guys mature, get better over their whole career and make some run to the tourney as a group of Seniors. I will miss that part of College Hoops...just going to be about what coaches can adjust, get the right transfers, give enough NIL options apparently, etc.

Burdick’s home run for the Triple-A Louisville Bats measured 500 feet. It’s also the longest home run in Louisville Slugger Field. The home run to right-center field in the seventh inning hit the scoreboard and helped the Bats beat the Toledo Mud Hens 7-5. The home run had an exit velocity of 114.8 miles per hour and a launch angle of 25 degrees. Aaron Judge, of the New York Yankees, owns the longest home run of the 2024 season at the big-league level: 473 feet on May 9. Pedro León, of the Sugar Land Space Cowboys previously owned the longest Triple-A home run: 479 feet on April 27. Since being optioned to Louisville, Burdick has hit .243 with five runs and 11 RBIs in 19 games....

On Memorial Day, former 4-year Raider golfer Tyler Goecke, who was a grad transfer at Illinois this year, finished the NCAA Div.I championships in a six way tie for 2nd place, one shot behind the champion. Each teams individual scores were then combined to determine who would play for the team championship. Illinois ended up with the best team score, 16 strokes better than the second place team, Vanderbilt. Ironically, the top 4 seeds were beaten by the bottom 4 seeds in the first round of the team match play, yesterday. The team championship is tonight on the golf channel at 6pm. All matches were played at the Omni La Costa North Course in Carlsbad, CA. Online results can be found here: results.golfstat.com/public/leaderboards/gsnav.cfm?pg=player&tid=29187
