If this is Lou’s ceiling the answer would be no. If he progresses more and more he will be the best since Vitaly. He already surpasses everyone in the 5 spot in the last several years in my opinion. A lot of the guys mentioned were good 3 and 4’s but not a division 1 five spot player.

On the positive side, really good defender and he does it without fouling. This in my opinion is the best indication that he is a true 5. I am so glad he is ours.

He's not there yet, but if he stays here through his senior season he will be the man to whom all future WSU centers will be compared.

My question is, with a name like "Lou Love," (which he started going by when he signed with WSU)how does this guy not have a ubiquitous nickname yet? It's just RIPE for wordplay! You can't stack up to the Ukraine Train without a clever nickname. I'm gonna go with The Love Muscle. Let the discussion go from there. I'm 100% sure anyone that calls Big Lou that in the future is getting banned from this site LOL!

sixth, I think Israel is being somewhat underappreciated in this poll. Thad had a solid one season but before that not much. true posts were pretty rare in our program. give Lou (I refuse to go with that love machine thing) another year of development and his jr and sr years should be very interesting.
on a side note, I truly believe if Israel had come back for his senior year that would have been the best raider team in div i history. Cain, Seth, Jesse, nard and Israel would have been a dynamite starting. when he left we had to drop Thomas in there instead of his natural position.
Good times!

That is indeed my implication.

That is indeed my implication. I am glad to have company in that thought.

I've seen both, and Vitaly never had stats like this game for Lou.

I've seen both, and Vitaly never had stats like this game for Lou. I don't know what games you were watching then. Vitally averaged 21 points and 7.5 rebounds his last year at WSU. Lou had a great game and is on his way to being one of the all time greats here but Vitaly put up stats like that regularly.

25 points, 17 rebounds, 5 blocks, several steals, 7 for 7 free throws, three fouls. Vitaly never had a game like this that I remember!

I believe the sentiment here is that if Love just put up 25, 17, 5 blocks, seemed like half a dozen steals, virtually shut down a 5th year senior in Jaylen Hayes, imagine the stat line as a senior when Vitaly averaged 21. Obviously free throws are a big deal (except for today, wow), but one big thing that he will develop over time and we have already seen improving every single game is his touch around the basket and making more of those close rollers fall through the net. Couldn't be happier for the big fella! Let's not get ahead of ourselves though.

Right now one thing he needs to learn is when double and triple teamed he needs to look for open man and just try to force up a shot. Most of his turnovers come from that situation.

Since you don't know what you are talking about you might want to just bow out of this conversation. Vitaly didn't average 21 as a senior. He turned pro after his sophomore year at WSU. He averaged 19 points and 6.4 rebounds as a freshman and 21 points and 7.4 rebounds as a sophomore. Lou is having a great year for us but he isn't having anywhere near the type of season V had as a freshman at WSU. Having guys that never saw the man play debate this is insulting to one of the best players to ever wear the green and gold. Once again, this is nothing against Lou. He is having a great year and I am a huge fan of his game. That being said he isn't even in the same conversation of the career V had before he was an NBA lottery pick.
