Ole Miss will hire Middle Tennessee State head coach Kermit Davis to replace Andy Kennedy according to a report this morning from Jon Rothstein.
Davis has led MTSU to a 25-7 record, the program’s first-ever Top 25 ranking, and an NIT bid this season. MTSU won 31 games last year, and claimed both the 2016 and 2017 C-USA Championships. Davis, a native of Mississippi, is 331-187 in his 16 seasons at the school. His squad has also beat Ole Miss in each of the past two years.

Penny Hardaway is the new coach at Memphis. He has no collegiate coaching experience at any level. The last few years he's been a high school coach and AAU coach. He's done well in talent rich east Memphis...will be interesting to see how this translates to the national scene.

The rumor mill has Chris Mack going to Louisville. Stay tuned as the carousel starts to really speed up. I know that's the rumor mill and they can throw a lot of $$$ at the person they want, but... The past history is great and the future looks like turbulent air ahead. L'ville is staring straight in the face of serious issues. Well beyond NCAA infractions...which if proved the NCAA will have to come down hard. And it's an interim A.D. Aside from simply being a money grab, why would any rational person that can pick their place to go over the next couple of years want to go there??

I think Xavier has become a destination. They can throw a pretty good wad of money at a coach, they are a relevant national contender and they play in a good conference. It is a far different program that when Skip Prosser left for Wake Forest. I would say they are a better program now than Wake Forest.
And to think they used to play in the same conference as Wright State. It is amazing to see how well Xavier and Butler they have done. If Wright State just becomes a consistent winner for long enough, I think good things could happen to the program along they lines of what Xavier and Butler have experienced.

runt, you are right about Xavier and butler and their success. knowing they were once peers of the raiders just bugs the heck out of me. but lest we forget, they are both out of the dance while loyola, yes our loyola is now in the sweet 16. for all three of these programs moving to a better conference has helped propel them to a more prominent position. all while we putzed around and our fans patted ourselves on the back for 20 win seasons.
finally we have , I think, the right guy as our coach. and while getting to the dance was nice, until we are the next loyola, Nevada or Gonzaga I will not be satisfied. our next step is to consistently get on the court with some of the big boys, compete and win. then build from there.

Missouri State hired Dana Ford from Tennessee State. His four year record at TSU was 57-65. I suspect the Bears message board is blowing up right now...and not in a good way.

Wichita State just released a 4-star PG so he can play for for his high school...now Memphis Coach, Penny.

I don't get some hires but I can't imagine being an AD too. Mack going to Louisville is gaining more traction. I don't see why he would do that, how much more money do you need? Glad to see Nagy isn't mentioned too;knock on wood.
