Think I heard $1.6 million at X. Surprised it wasn't more.

Not sure what it was as X is a private institution and doesn't report salaries. I believe the last tax filings I read he was paid $1.2m and that was from a couple of years ago. Since then he's had at least 2 publicly announced contract extensions along with pay raise. Heck, he just inked a contract extension last fall...
After all that I too would be surprised it would "only" be $1.6m. It appears he runs a clean--relatively speaking--program. Multiple NCAA appearances, an Elite Eight, Sweet Sixteens, near the top of the league in attendance (in their facilities--no rent to NBA/NHL arenas) and a TV contract that pays each member $4m+. Oh, and X doesn't even sponsor non-scholarship football. Maybe the X admin didn't want to share the wealth....or maybe they were paying him more. No telling...
U of L probably overpaid (reported $4m/year) to get the man they wanted and guaranteed his contract for 7 years. And I'm sure Mack has lots of clauses to protect himself when the FBI comes down hard and if the NCAA displays some intestinal fortitude.
All that said, I don't think it's any coincidence that Mack was hired AFTER U of L dropped the interim tag yesterday off of the acting A.D. and gave him a 5 year contract...

FWIW I did hear on WLW yesterday that the Xavier AD said their head coach salary was in line with the median for the conference which is $2 million and Mack was north of that figure "despite what some reports out there have said".

Joe Dooley leaves Florida Gulf Coast for East Carolina. Interestingly, Dooley was fired from ECU back in the 90's.

It's been over 3 weeks since Detroit Mercy fired Bacari Alexander, and they still have not hired a new coach. The spring signing period is in play right now and they need players, and the lack of a coach is killing any chance of them getting some much needed talent. Reading the tea leaves it seems to indicate that no one wants this job. Their RPI next year could end up being 351.

Has anyone heard that Detroit has reached out to Rick Pitino?
