Wow, I did not realize some of these coaches make so much money. Hard to not almost get a little jealous! But hey they put the hard work in in their lives to make that kind of money. The YSU women's basketball coach making over 250,000 shocked me. Who knew lacrosse coaches make as much money as they are making too? I bet a lot of people are surprised to see how much Nagy makes too.

I don't know many schools that can pack a stadium for a lacrosse game but I suppose there are a few. I'm sure their basketball/football programs rake in the money and it trickles down to the other sport programs. I'm surprised there isn't a bigger fuss about Nagy's salary. Our university is in the red but we can afford to pay one guy 3/4 of a million dollars? It doesn't make a whole lot of sense until you consider that the return on investment from a successful basketball program is many times that amount.

I'd think that everyone that works for a company has benefits that is a true cost to employ someone but, isn't what shows up on a W-2 for tax purposes. What goes into those benefit numbers may or may not mean that much to the average guy. So, to say someone makes $250,000 including benefits doesn't mean they have $250,000 to spend in a year without going to another source ( savings/loans ).
You have to decide for yourselves if the difference is important. So, we can say a coach made $550,000 with salary and bonus or $720,000 with pay plus benefits, which you may or may not think of as pay ( is it health benefits employer portion, unemployment, FICA, use of a car or membership to a golf course, what exactly? and, is it the same things included by every college ).
Anyway, I take it for what it is. Personally, adding benefits doesn't make me think it reflects what someone made.

A lot of those female coaches salaries are high because of title 9. You have to spend equal money on men’s and women’s sports. Schools that have football have to spend a lot on women’s sports to balance that out so women sports coaches make a lot more than they probably should.

Interesting. So this adds two games to our schedule each year. Seems like a good move depending on what two games in our normal schedule this replaces. I like that they are matching up similar teams from each conference so we should get a good matchup that won't kill our strength of schedule.

Didn't we pay IPFW last year or the year before? Who could forget the Mastodons?

I'm guessing these games will replace games like Murray State, Indiana State, or Toledo so there won't be much of a difference in schedule. I guess it's rather likely Nagy will be coaching against his old school.

I like it...is this in any way a step in eliminating Non D1 competition from the schedule?

Has anyone seen any news that other mid major conferences are doing the same thing? This sort of co-operative scheduling could strengthen the conferences that do them. Rotate among several regionally appropriate conferences each year and give the fans looks at new teams. It could lead to fewer Non D1 games. I doubt that it will impact buy games.

Hoping that it will eliminate non-D1 games and definitely hope it won't eliminate games like VS Miami

Other conferences came up with this idea a year ago and we are being one of the first conferences to smartly follow suit. Shocking honestly. I doubt this eliminates D2 games, just my opinion. These will hopefully get some television, but that depends on what other games are scheduled those days. Does anyone know what kind of television deals the Summit League has?

Hoping that it will eliminate non-D1 games and definitely hope it won't eliminate games like VS Miami Why do you not like the Miami game? They’ve proven to be competitive as of late and I’d rather see a MAC opponent at the Nutter Center as opposed to an NAIA team.
