The Raider Gang withstands the comeback and wins 9-5. The last putout for the Raiders in the bottom of the 9th came with Ole miss having the bases loaded and the tying run at the plate.

Got a little nerve racking but a great win nevertheless! Would be a great series victory with a win tomorrow! Go Raiders!

D1 Digest: Saturday, Feb. 16 Kendall Rogers’ Five 3. Upset of the day: Wright State over Ole Miss I’m not sure Wright State beating anyone of significance is truly an upset. After all, the Raiders are consistently solid. But Wright caught everyone’s attention Saturday afternoon with a 9-5 road win over Ole Miss. The Raiders scored seven runs in the third and fourth innings, respectively, to take charge against the Rebels. WSU’s Seth Gray was the offensive headliner in the win, smacking a two-run double in the third before hitting a two-run single in the fourth. He was alone in the production department. Wright first baseman Kyle Casserly had two hits and two RBIs, while Zane Harris and Zach Weatherford also had productive days with two hits each. Wright touched up Ole Miss starting pitcher Zack Phillips for five runs on seven hits in just 2.2 innings, while it also had success against Rebels reliever Taylor Broadway. As for the Rebels, they were on the losing side of things, but Thomas Dillard and Ryan Olenek were bright spots with both hitting their first home runs of the season. d1baseball.com/roundup/d1-digest-saturday-feb-16/

#13 Ole Miss In the series-opening win, the Rebels showed what they’re capable of when operating at near-full capacity. Five of the team’s 11 hits went for extra bases, including homers for Tyler Keenan and Cooper Johnson, and Will Ethridge threw 5.2 shutout innings. They are undoubtedly disappointed to not have played the third game in this series due to weather, as a season-opening series win over a quality Wright State team would have been a feather in their cap. www.baseballamerica.com/rankings/college-baseball-top-25/

I guess it didn't occur to the writer that the quality Wright State team could have won game 3, had it been played.

My initial reaction was the Raiders were equally or more disappointed the game was cancelled due to weather. I'm sure the Raiders would have liked to put that "feather in their cap" vs. a top ranked team while on the road. However, at the end of the day, it was just a small capsule written for a top-20 team. When we're consistently ranked I hope we're given the same benefit for splitting a series.
