Our road gets slightly easier with a Green Bay loss at IUPUI this afternoon. Why do we want IUPUI? To hope they jump UIC in the standings to give us tiebreaker? Because GB still has a chance to win first place if they win out.

IUPUI 79 GB 68
Another good outcome for the Raiders.

There are a couple things to track here. Assuming NKU wins out, we really need to beat Green Bay. But even if we lose to Milwaukee, if UIC loses to Oakland we are in a good spot to win the league. And that’s the scenario for losing to Milwaukee, a team with an 8 game losing streak. Obviously we just win two and the title is ours regardless of everything else

Milwaukee beating UIC coming up would be huge today

That's about as likely as the last place team beating the first place team.

Oakland leads UIC 39-36 at intermission. Raiders could use a Grizzly W to help out cause.

In other good news for the Raiders shot at a league title, it appears Drew McDonald isn’t playing for NKU tonight. Their mentioned he was pretty hurt in their postgame comments against CSU.

With Oakland beating UIC, does this mean that is WSU simply beats Milwaukee on Saturday that WSU is the HL regular season champs, regardless of what happens between NKU-GB?

To clinch the one seed, the Raiders need one of three things to happen.
Scenario A: Raiders win, NKU loses Scenario B: Raiders win coupled with either an Oakland win or Detroit win. Scenario C: Raiders loss, NKU loss, and either an Oakland or Detroit win.
Basically we dont want UIC and Oakland to end up with the same record.
If NKU goes down and either one of the games in Michigan go our way, we could lose by 50 and still clinch the 1 seed. All games are before ours, so we will know exactly what we need to do.

Milwaukee is not a good team. If we cannot bounce back and beat them, quite honestly, we don’t deserve the 1 seed. Champions rise to the occasion. We didn’t do that last night. We get another chance tomorrow.

I really did think we were going to wreck GB last night, but hey, we didn’t and it happens. It shouldn’t be surprising this season. But I can’t imagine there is anyone genuinely worried about this Milwaukee game, and not because of how bad Milwaukee is, but because of what this team is about to do to them. Do you really think Mark Hughes (who struggled hard last night) isn’t going to make right and dominate his final regular season game of his career? As others have noted, we get to see what happens before we go play and I think that gets the guys going. There is no way we don’t bounce back from that defeat, and close it out on a high note before coming back home Tuesday.
But also, put yourself in the shoes (or cowboy boots or whatever they wear in Kentucky) of an NKU fan and ask yourself if you’re confident your team will win the league? The answer is no. Obviously it can happen, but as such intense fans of WSU basketball, I know personally I get wound up and nervous about all of the scenarios and thoughts of how it could all fall apart. But at the end of the day, just step back. We’re pretty damn certainly going to win the league. My 2 cents

Good point. I don't know if we're going to win the league or not, but I'd much rather be in our position than NKU's (or any other team in the league) right now.

mre, I get what you are saying but imo if we win and nku wins tomorrow we will tie for the league championship, not win it. for seeding purposes a tiebreaker will makes us the number one seed in the tournament hopefully but we will be cochampions with nku. been a fan of the raiders since the Nutter opened but I did not realize we had never won outright the league regular season title. truly amazing that we have been a winning or competitive team for many years yet we have never been league champions. seems like nights like last night when we could have moved toward that we just let it slip thru our fingers.

Don’t count Green Bay out today. It’s Senior Day and on top of that, Drew McDonald is questionable to play. NKU isn’t the same team without Drew’s versatility and could certainly be subject to an increased intensity for senior day.
A Raider win and a Phoenix victory will yield an outright WSU championship. Green Bay is jostling for positioning, but has already locked up a home game in the league tournament.
