UWGB had the "honor" of tipping off the NCAA basketball season with the first game of the year earlier today. Unlike the Reds who have a parade, excitement, and fans to watch the ceremonial first game the Phoenix played in front of a reported crowed of 1,042 in their rout of D III Wisconsin Lutheran College. For those who may be disappointed they didn't get to pay $5 to ESPN to watch a terrible D III program don't fret...You'll get another chance to see the "Warriors" next month when they play at UW-Milwaukee.

The HL has gone 0-5 tonight against D1 competition, and IUPUI will make it 0-6 as they are getting pounded by Xavier. There were 147 games yesterday involving D I programs. Only 4 conferences played a minimum of 3 games vs other D I programs without notching 1 single win vs. their peer competition. Horizon League Southland Ohio Valley MAAC. The other 28 conferences played a minimum 3 games vs other D I opponents and recorded at least 1 win.

Positive spin: Ooey Pooey fought back and actually pulled ahead briefly in the second half. They were within a bucket with about nine minutes left. It's horseshoes and hand grenades, but maybe a good sign of things to come. Hoping like hell they keep that RPI in the low 200s.

With tonight's Wright State game the Raiders garnered the Horizon League's first victory over a D I opponent in 9 HL regular season sanctioned games.

So are you guys saying Horizon League stinks? I'm not exactly disagreeing... and I'm not trying to be some snobby Wright State fan as Wright State has failed it self in most of its bigger games throughout the years. But I think if the league stays the same or gets worse for the next few years Wright State has to consider moving to a different conference.

WSU D1 opponents currently 0-10 Nine teams have yet to play. SMU won last night...I updated the scores just above your post. The pony's are a potential opponent in Cancun and they are the first potential opponent to collect a win over a D I opponent. Tonight there will be a WSU opponent guaranteed to pick up a win over a D I program. Two Cancun Challenge opponents face each other in Happy Valley this evening...North Florida vs. Penn State.

Here's the weird thing about that one: UDM was neck and neck with Temple for most of the game. Ten lead changes until Temple finally pulled away about midway through the second half. One of their freshmen had 31 points to lead all scorers. These guys might actually capable of winning a few games.
