Yes, I was really surprised that with 3 of the UIC guys having 4 fouls that they were able to finish with 5 guys on the court.
Wasn't a clinic but, I was entertained. The layups bothered me more than the missed 3 pointers. I like 3 pointers more than layups but, I wouldn't have minded if UIC had to play with less than 5 guys. Hats off to the Flames.

Really thought we were going to be much better than this this season especially with coming off of an NCAA March Madness appearance. Boy was I wrong. Hope we can turn it around and fast.

My hat is not off to the flames. Their coach acts like a complete idiot the entire game and Blount is punk! Side note, we have a perfect view of coach McClain, that dude moves exactly like a chicken. His head moves as he walks the sidelines like he's about to start pecking corn off the floor

I realize that this forum might not be the best place to express an opinion about a Wright State basketball game but, I thought the UIC coach adjusted to the game perfectly. If it makes you feel better to rag on him, he walked out of the Nutter Center with a road victory against the league favorite. He earned his paycheck for sure.
Whether the Raiders play well or poorly, the tone is always more fun to read after a victory. Sometimes you have to give the other team some credit.

I dont understand how teams shoot such a good percentage against us from 3, compared to the percentage we shoot against our opponents. Yes, we gave them a lot of open looks, but also get hands in their face a lot. We had significantly more wide open looks from 3 and we missed everything. Are we just bad shooters or do we just have the ultimate worst luck?

Believe it or not but, I believe before last night's game we were shooting 40%. May not seem like it because it hasn't been consistent each game. The opposition was shooting 42%. I believe it is now 37% to 41%. We have attempted more of them and have made more. Keep shooting!
Could getting more defensive minded recruits to stop it but, you may be giving up something on the offensive end. Is it worth it? It could help to make all of the shots at the rim ( can't believe a few more didn't go in ).

I realize that this forum might not be the best place to express an opinion about a Wright State basketball game but, I thought the UIC coach adjusted to the game perfectly. I respectively disagree. I don’t think their coach made a single adjustment last night. He didn’t have to. We followed our scouting repot to a T. It’s the reason we have 1 D1 win in the last month. We haven’t made any adjustments this season. We are going to try to get the ball inside to Lou or chuck up 3s. That is 90% of our offense this year. We don’t have the roster to win playing like this. We don’t shoot well enough from outside and Lou gets double or triple teamed every time he touches the ball because no one fears our 3 point shooters. The reason we have so many wide open outside looks is because teams want us shooting from out there so they don’t even really defend our outside shooters. If we keep playing like this we are going to finish around .500 and in the middle of the HL.

Gotta wonder what we have to lose playing Manns. I understand coach doesn’t think his defense is good enough, but is or teams defense good anyway? At least he has some length the closeout on 3s better. Skyelar (and Malachi actually) are the only guys who drive the lane pretty well sometimes or at least seem willing to do it. Everyone else on the team is terrified to take the ball to the hoop. This is where jalen, grant, and Omar will really help next season. But we don’t have them right now. We need to preach taking the ball to the hoop or we are going to lose half of our games and by a lot more than we did last night.

Believe it or not but, I believe before last night's game we were shooting 40%. We were shooting 38% from 3 going into last night's game. We were 123 for 332 prior to the game.

Big D, my thinking was UIC came into the game with 11 guys having any minutes at all. One guy was sick, one fouled out and 3 were kicked out. They ended the game with 3 guys on the floor with 4 fouls and managed to avoid finishing the game with less than 5 guys still on the court. You can say each team stuck to a gameplan but, I'd say one of those teams sure came out with a little bit of luck.
Thought the Raiders had good effort, just one of those nights ( you can't afford on the home court ).

Wolf, I could have sworn when I saw a graphic on ESPN 2's replay that it had said 40% but, guess going from 38% to 37% wasn't as bad as I thought. Thanks for the correction.

Wolf, I could have sworn when I saw a graphic on ESPN 2's replay that it had said 40% but, guess going from 38% to 37% wasn't as bad as I thought. Thanks for the correction. Yeah, I saw that too and knew that wasn't right. I went to our season stats on our athletic site and subtracted last night's game to get the correct number. In regards to last night's game, we attempted more shots from 3 than we did from the floor. 40 of 78 shots were from 3. For the season we have attempted 819 shots and 362 of them have been 3 point attempts. I don't have time to look it up now but I would love to know how that correlates to our Ws and Ls this year. My theory is that we win more games when we shot less than 1/2 of our shots from 3. In my opinion, we are a much better team when we try to score from a variety of ways. We were dangerous last year because we had a few 3 point shooters, we had a good inside game with Lou and we had a few guys that could slash to the basket and score. We are really missing Winchester and Hall this year. The good news is we get Hall back next year and we have a really good looking bunch of recruits coming in. We should be a much more balanced team next year. We do need to do something to figure out how to be a more balanced team going forward this year though.

How about shaking the team up? Tell Wampler he won’t be starting Sunday but will have the opportunity to win that privilege. Tell Potter he will start but has to perform to keep that honor. See if that will improve production as they battle to get the honor to be a starter.

See if that will improve production as they battle to get the honor to be a starter. People keep talking about taking x guy out of the lineup and replacing him with y guy without taking into account what position they play. Potter has played the 2 or 3 for us this year. Wampler has exclusively been a 4 for us. It would be straight up asinine to put Potter in as our starting 4. He is too short and too slight of frame. It’s a recipe to get the kid hurt.

I didn’t say Potter to play the 4 position. Parker could start at 4 and Potter at 3. We need to do something to try to change how they play at the start of the game, which has been not good. Wampler is shooting a terrible percentage lately.
