I realize the goal is to win the tournament and go to the dance. I know there are financial benefits that are significant. but, I am less certain that we benefit from that trip except for financially. best case scenario we are a 15 seed matched up against a top 10 team and we get a 30 pt beatdown and we are lumped in with all the meac, maac etc teams. Low majors who cannot compete with the big boys. Or we go to the nit where we get some matchups that are winnable and maybe we win a couple and end up in msg for the semis. that might be more fun and give us more experience. We go where we earn the invitation but that nit bid may be a real plus for us. It's a win win. I'd always prefer a trip to March Madness over the NIT but the NIT would be an enormous chance for Wright State to win some games on a national stage in a relevant tournament, unlike the bushleague CBI or whatever other sham tournament's there are. But March Madness and a chance to pull off a shocker on the biggest stage ever is what every fan of mid majors dreams of. With Love, I always feel like they have a shot. And after seeing Virginia get blown out last year as a 1 seed. anything is possible. The great thing about tonight's victory is more banners are going up next season!

I’ll be right there with you as a back up plan rooting for the raiders in the NIT if we lose in our conference championship. I think it’s a heck of a good consolation. That said give me a 30 pt defeat to a top 10 team and a banner in the gym over an NIT win.

Yep. We were shook last year. Deer in headlights on the big stage. The more times we get there the better chance our team feels like they belong and pull the upset. At least this year it's not NCAA bid or bust but I'd much rather make it there than play some .500 conference record Big Ten team in the NIT.

Our offense went to the bench with Smith once he got his 4th foul. Love was called for 3 fouls in that game...and actually committed zero. I'd like to see more Smith and run plays for Gentry to get open for 333.

NCAA dance is better because that means we also win the Horizon Tournament and then we also get to play with the big boys again.

We cannot do anything to improve WSU's finances but we can do things to improve our appeal to other conferences athletically. Back to back trips to the NCAAs helps our appeal for the basketball team. The women's team potentially going to the NCAAs helps. Our baseball team's success helps. NCAA tournament is always going to be a better resume builder than the NIT.
