Steve Payne has resigned from his position as head men’s basketball coach at Tennessee Tech University following 17 seasons with the program, including the last eight as head coach. In eight seasons as the Golden Eagle head man, Payne led the purple and gold to a 118-134 record, making the Ohio Valley Conference Tournament five times.

I hope we don't see any HL programs on this list this year. The conference is never going to improve if we keep having a revolving door of coaches.

If it's anyone, it'll either be Nagy or Brannen at NKU. UIC hasn't lived up to potential, Kampe and Oakland are symbiotic, and everyone else is too new to have proven themselves.

I have heard some rumblings about IUPUI. Also Linc Darner would jump on any job that wasnt in Green Bay. Those are the 2 jobs that may open in addition to NKU. If NKU wins the HL tournament Brannen will be printing money.

This is always in the back of my mind. Obviously I want WSU to have success but dang it I do not want to lose Nagy either. But it would be totally understandable for him to want to move to a more stable institution where he isn’t distracted by faculty strikes or embarrassing headlines in the papers, and where the faculty might actually SUPPORT the athletics programs instead of demanding their budgets to be cut etc. Hope he’s with us for a long time but given the state of our university I just don’t see it and would not be shocked at all to see him go.

Are you this pessimistic in everything in life or just WSU basketball? Nearly every one of your posts has a negative undertone. I don't get it. There have been zero reports or rumors linking Nagy anywhere but WSU. He hasn't exactly had a nomad coaching career to this point having spent 21 years in South Dakota (!!!) despite winning a ton of games there. Just enjoy the ride.

Yeah I am generally a pessimistic person, trying to change that, though! Agreed, going to just enjoy the ride and welcome our recent success.

I think Brannan is at the top of the list. He got looks last year, and he's likely to get looks again this year. The only other team that's been successful enough for their coach to get a look is Oakland, and Kampe has been there forever and a day, and I don't think he's going anywhere. I feel comfortable with Nagy; he's getting big bucks, and he's really just getting going with his guys. I think he's here for the long term. Everyone else is either too new for a more appealing offer to come out, or, frankly, has a program in the toilet.

Don’t see Nagy running to go somewhere else yet. He knows he is on the verge of having a real breakthrough season if he can get all his pieces together and stay here. I’m more worried about one of the players leaving than Nagy.

Nagy isn’t going anywhere, that’s my gut feeling at least. Ask me again in a few seasons. In the other hand, I’d be shocked if Brannen is still around in a couple months. With McDonald leaving, he has extra reason to push hard for a bigger job because that pedigree of success gets less likely (albeit not impossible) next season for him. Get out while you’re ahead. Also wouldn’t be surprised if Kampe goes, he has had health problems in recent years. After last season quite a few people thought he’d be done and would be the new AD. There haven’t been any reports on health issues this season and he has done a great coaching job but how many years do you think he really has left? I’m not saying I’m betting on it happening, just that I wouldn’t be surprised. I think the other coaches all stay.

Stetson has fired Corey Williams. Williams was 58-133 in 6 years at Stetson. The Hatters finished the 2018-19 campaign with a 7-24 mark, including a 3-13 finish in the Atlantic Sun.

I think I worry more about players leaving as was mentioned than Nagy leaving as well. I don't know what type of job Nagy would leave for. I'm not saying I don't think he will eventually, but I don't know if he would take a job like Clemson that Brownell took.

Cal Poly has firded Joe Callero after 10 years. Callero directed the Mustangs to the program’s first Big West Conference Tournament championship, first NCAA Division I Tournament appearance and first NCAA Tournament win during the 2013-14 season. He is 126-182 at Cal Poly.
