St. Joe’s has fired Phil Martelli. He was informned of the decision yesterday. The official announcement is expected today. Martelli had been the head coach of the Hawks since 1995. In his 24 seasons, he compiled a 444-328 record. He was the 2004 Consensus National Coach of the Year and a Four-time Atlantic 10 Coach of the Year (2005, 2004, 2001, 1997). This season, the Hawks finished 14-19. For context, here's the most recent definitive list I could find of active D-1 coaches by single tenure: 1976 1. April 3, Jim Boeheim, Syracuse 1980 2. March 18, Mike Krzyzewski, Duke 1984 3. April 1, Greg Kampe, Oakland 1986 4. April, Rick Byrd, Belmont 1989 5. April 26, Bob McKillop, Davidson 1990 6. July 14, Ron Cottrell, Houston Baptist 1995 7. March 13, Fran O'Hanlon, Lafayette 8. July 1, Tom Izzo, Michigan State 9. July 20, Phil Martelli, Saint Joseph's 1999 10. March 24, Mike McConathy, Northwestern State That's an absolute bombshell. (Side note: if we hadn't snagged him away, Nagy would be #8)

Dylan Howard officially has been hired as the Alabama A&M men’s basketball coach.
Even though Howard has a new title, he is not new to the Alabama A&M program.
In June, Howard was named Alabama A&M’s interim men’s basketball coach, leading the Bulldogs through the 2018-19 season.

Todd Bozeman has been fired at Morgan State. Bozeman finishes his tenure as Morgan State’s all-time winningest coach with a 195-218 overall record. His teams participated in six of the last 13 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Tournament championship games, delivered three regular season titles, captured back-to-back-MEAC titles, and appearances in the NCAA Tournament (2009 & 2010) and the National Invitation Tournament (2008).

Does Alabama expect their basketball program to be like football overnight? They are usually a bottom feeder of the SEC.

John Brannen is going to get serious consideration from Alabama to take this job. I’d be surprised if he isn’t the front runner.

He was an assistant for a coach that got ran out of town for not living up to expectations. True, but he was there for a long time and was the associate head coach for a couple seasons. But more importantly he is young, has definitely proven he can be a successful coach, and I think adding his ties to the university will make him a strong candidate. Hiring Brannen would not excite the fan base, and it would remain to be seen if the admin thinks buying out Avery Johnson with one year left is worth the hiring of someone like Brannen, but it looks as though Steve Prohm is going to have a lot of Alabama’s attention too apparently. The Vanderbilt opening will probably draw Brannens name in reports soon

Looking at Drew's recruiting, I think they might have pulled the plug to soon. I am sure Drew lands onhis feet.

I don't know, you go 0-18 in conference in your 3rd year its hard to come back for year 4. Sounds like they are trying to reassign him to another position in the school to avoid paying the buyout. Seems familiar...

I am going to predict that Nebraska's Tim Miles is gone when their NIT run ends. Seven years with no significant progress won't fly at a Big 10 school.
