There is a lot to be excited about here. Best freshman class in history? I don’t know, I haven’t been around long enough. You guys can tell me, but they definitely don’t look like freshman. The only aspect I think we need more out of is Grant. He will be pivotal on both ends of the court. We have to lock down the defense and now. Coach said the magic “at-large” words. That means no losing, like at all basically. It’s a pipe dream, but an even slimmer possibility with sloppy defense

I forgot Basille is a freshman. Nagy has really recruited well the last few years, just hope the guys will stay in the long run.

The Horizon League is bordering on disaster! But maybe Wright State can lift the league up a bit...I think NKU is going to be good.
Lots of potential with the Raiders...I'd be somewhat concerned with their defense and rebounding though in the early going.

It’s a pipe dream, but an even slimmer possibility with sloppy defense I know Coach Nagy talked about an at large bid in one of those preseason interviews but I think anyone that has been following the HL for any period of time knows that isn't a realistic goal out of this conference without an almost perfect season and several "name value" OOC wins. The HL sucks this year and isn't going to help us with any quality wins and our OOC schedule isn't going to help us build a resume. Honest to god, I could see us going undefeated the entire year and losing in the HL championship game and the selection committee still leaving us out. I think Coach Nagy's comments were designed to motivate his team to play every game like it is life or death for an at large bid. Best case scenario, he is right and we could get an at large. Realistically, the better our record is at the end of the year gives us a better chance to get a better seed in the NCAAs if we win the HL. Either way it's the mindset we should want our players to have. |

Missed a lot of the second half due to wrangling children. Anyone have additional overall feedback of the second half/game? We got very sloppy and coasted with our lead. Our defense needs to improve a lot. Offensively, we had way too many TOs. Some of that was lazy passes. A lot of it was due to us playing so many guys in a lot of different combinations. We played 11-12 guys tonight. I think Nagy is going to try to get that down to a 8-9 man rotation most nights. |
