No defense and no rebounding. All is not lost.

Quisenberry 41 points, averages 15, made 2 more 3s than we made as a team. Penguins almost doubled us up on the glass to boot.
We got our assed kicked, no two ways about it. I hope we can bring them back down to this planet in the tournament and put them back where they belong.

I remember when WSU lost to Youngstown State and Quin "Q" Humphrey in the regular season finale in 2007 when they had a chance to lock up the #1 seed. Fortunately Loyola upset Butler AT Butler shortly after the YSU game ended & Wright State locked up the #1 seed.
Just looking for a ray of sunshine after such an awful loss tonight. Hopefully the good WSU team shows up on Saturday and beats Cleveland State while YSU comes up with another big win on their Senior Night so WSU can clinch an outright conference title!
Go Raiders!

we lost a game, drop, to a team who is about 245 in the net rankings. 230 in the ken Pom rankings. not gonna bother finding their rpi because it will suck too. they are a bad team and we lost to them. In fact three of our six losses are to teams with a net below 225, about the bottom third of div I teams. good teams do not do that.
losing to the “third best team” in a crappy league does not explain it away. this is just an addition to our list of bad teams we have lost to. I have a real concern that our seeding in the league tourney is going to come down to tiebreakers.

I am more disappointed with the comments on this message board tonight than the outcome of the game...talk about negativity. This game was not a gimmie. Wright State lost a road game tonight to the third best team in the league. I think I heard on TV that the Penguins only have two home losses this year, to Milwaukee and UIC (both in overtime). I think the players played hard enough to win. I put the blame for this loss on the coaching staff for 2 reasons: (1) I think the starters played too many minutes and were worn out at the end. (2) I wanted to see Basile and Love on the court together as much as possible in the second half, that may ha oooo ve helped the rebounding and inside defense. Those who say there is no way we should have lost this are in LaLa Land. It’s disappointing but YSU is a good team, not great, but not chop liver. Just look at the game against West Virginia earlier in the year. Road games in conference will always be a grind, at least many of them. It’s the nature of college basketball. Seem people still seem to not understand that for some reason. We got beat up on the boards, defense struggled to stop them, not a good game. But to say we should never lose to a team this “bad” on the road is naive. I’m disappointed in the effort as everyone should be, but come on.

I was at that game. Raider superfan Jeremy Van Ness and I drove up there in what seemed like a blizzard. After the game we went through McDonalds and got some special on Filet O' Fish's. I think we got 4 for like 8 bucks or something. Turns out that we only ate 3 of them. As soon as winter was over, it quickly became apparent that fourth sandwich had found it's way under the passenger seat. Seems like every couple years we lay an egg at Beeghly, that games comes back to haunt me. Good thing I sold that car..

you know, raid, 7-8 years ago we lost a game to a North Carolina team. no not the tar heels. It was nc a& t or a & m or something. they ended the season with an rpi of about 345. were you on here telling us they were a good team and we are in la la land? what is your definition of a good team for Pete’s sake. anything above 300? 325?? if they were a “good team” they would not be ranked where they are. this is another sucky loss that again will drag down our seeding....if we make the dance at all.

Disappointed about last night, but going into it that it was going to be tough game due to their physicality. They are a good rebounding team and that is what really hurt us last night. Looking at standings and they are 12-3 at home but 4-9 one the road. Hopefully they can give NKU a L on Saturday and we can lock it up with a W at CSU.

NKU was full strength last night with Walton back. Going into last night, I liked our odds of a victory of the Penguins 3:1 easily over the odds to win at NKU. Now, if both games Saturday don't go our way, we have to beat NKU at their place. If YSU can't beat NKU on senior day, then we have no recourse from the tiebreaking process. Raiders must defeat a full Norse squad, in their gym, on senior day, angry and mad after the last go around, in Highland Heights. I think the YSU win was way more likely.

Last night was disappointing on many levels. I love our coaches and players but they showed up in Youngstown last night expecting to win and were not ready to respond when YSU punched us in the face. We were lucky to get a win earlier in the year vs YSU at the Nutter Center so I do not know why we weren't prepared for a fight last night. They outplayed us at home by being very physical and tried to control the glass. I expected our coaching staff to come with a different game plan last night. They didn't. It didn't look like we changed a single thing and even more disappointing they didn't make any half time adjustments when their game plan was not working in the first half. I was also very disappointed in our players. They got destroyed on the boards and lost almost every single 50/50 ball on the court last night. I re-watched the game and we really did loose almost every single one and all of that was due to lack of effort. I am not saying our boys were half assing it out there but they weren't giving that 110% effort either. YSU was. If there was a long rebound after a shot, they had not only 1 but 2-3 guys busting their ass going after that ball. If a ball got deflected and was on the floor we might have 1 guy on the floor trying to get that possession. They had 2-3 guys in that pile up. To sum it up, they wanted it more and were willing to fight for it.
We are still in first place this morning but honestly we put NKU in the drivers seat for the HL regular season championship. We have to win out to win the HL or split and hope that NKU drops their game vs YSU Saturday. We just gave NKU all the motivation in the world to play their asses off Saturday and we already know next Friday they have all the motivation in the world to beat us at their place. I have no faith that YSU will rise to the occasion again vs NKU after their big emotional win against us last night. I see them having a huge let down game and NKU picking up the win. I think we will have our usual bounce back game after a bad loss vs CSU. That means our entire season comes down to beating NKU at NKU. It's their senior night. It's a nationally televised game. It will most likely be a near sell out crowd and NKU wants revenge for the beat down we game them at the Nutter Center and the HL championship will be on the line. We could have wrapped up the HL championship this weekend and the NKU game would be meaningless. We didn't show up last night and put ourselves in a position where these last 2 games are do or die.

You’re going to lose to teams you shouldn’t and it’s going to suck. It was a poor performance. I just get the sense that losing to the #3 team in the conference on the road is a shock. Disappointing and a poor performance yes for sure. That’s life on the road in conference at times. I read a lot of these posts. I respect your disappointment, you should be. You are very pessimistic. Every team craps the bed at times, you shouldn’t be that surprised at. Loss on the road to the #3 team in conference. The way it ended and how we played sure. But pump the brakes.

YSU is playing for a possible second place finish. If they win out and we win at NKU. They are tied for second place in the league. Not sure how the tie breakers would play out.

I think it is an indication that while this team and this program have improved greatly under Nagy and his staff, we may still not be head and shoulders above the league like many here think; it may take another year or two.
That being said last night was a poor performance by this roster and staff, and one where effort and scheme did not meet many of our expectations. It happens. A #6 Duke team lost by 22 on the road against an NC state team which was .500 in conference play. While the damage is done to the resumé, all we can hope is that it was a blip on the radar and the team bounces back and peaks heading into tournament play.
