This MTE will be a nice step up. Any power conference opponent is nice, but Illinois is expected to be really good.

Does anyone have any information on when a schedule will be announced? Right now the only thing that I've read is that we will be playing in the Illinois MTE and that the HL schedule will consist of 20 games.
What about attendance? Will we be allowed to attend in person? If so, how many? If not, will all of the games be accessible to watch on espn+ or some other platform?
This is beyond frustrating.

Many conferences have released their conference schedule recently. I'd think the Horizon League schedule will be announced soon. If the Horizon stays at 20 games, that only leaves room for 4 non-conference games after the Illinois MTE. I have no insider info, but I'm thinking the WKU game won't happen this year as their schedule is nearly full and it looks like they have more contracted return games than can be played with the limited schedule.
As far as attendance, I would not expect to be able to attend any games. Detroit Mercy already announced they won't allow fans this year. The Horizon could institute a league-wide policy. Otherwise it will come down to government restrictions, which could change throughout the season. I'd expect all games to be available to watch on some platform. Home and Horizon games will be available through ESPN. I'll just be happy to have a season.

All of our games will be on ESPN+. There is a possibility that some games might be on the ESPN broadcast channels. The schedule this year will not delight many people in the way it's going to be drawn up but I believe that it's being done in the only way that gives us a shot at even having a season. I can't go into details but it's absolutely critical that every team in our conference stay vigilant and don't have ANY positive tests from their players or staff. There is going to be no room for error and one positive will throw everything out of balance for the entire season. And, if you're a fan and you have the means to do it, this would be the year to buy a season ticket that you may not be able to use or send a couple of bucks to the Athletic Department. They are going to be losing advertising dollars and ticket revenue that account for a huge chunk of the department's budget.

Jeff Goodman @goodmanhoops Horizon League has decided on the following, per source:
20 games, back to back days, playing same team, with first games Dec. 19.

Jeff Goodman @goodmanhoops Horizon League has decided on the following, per source: 20 games, back to back days, playing same team, with first games Dec. 19. Most likely Friday/Saturday games. This basically means that there will be home court advantage (if you want to call it that with few or no fans in the stands) against half the league in both games. There will be some road trips that we won't need to do; hopefully Wisconsin is one of them.

It will cut down on cost by eliminating the number of nights we will stay in hotels in between games on those road trips. Most importantly it limits the COVID exposure for our players by being away one less day on these road trips. I think it’s a smart decision by the HL.

My biggest concern on this is who goes where. Hypothetically speaking, lets say 2 of WSU's road trips are Green Bay and Milwaukee, yet those 2 schools go to NKU? That is a huge swing. Also, who hosts between NKU and WSU for their matchups? Those questions could very well determine the outcome of the regular season standings.

I'm admittedly biased of course, but if the HL is smart they stack the schedule in favor of the team that is considered the consensus favorite to win the league. Having a good regular season record and easier path in conference tournament would help the odds of getting a good seed in the NCAA Tournament and actually winning a game to bring the conference more money.
EDIT: HL schedule will be released at 1pm EST today

It will be interesting to see which team the Raiders won't play this season and will have the easiest conference schedule.
Given the circumstances we are living in and the complexity of trying to schedule and plan, I would have been perfectly fine if the Horizon had gone with a 22-game conference schedule this season, so there would at least be the balance of everyone playing each team twice. For the games with the traditional travel partner, each school could have hosted 1 game. It still wouldn't be completely balanced, but it would at least allow the same opponents for each school with 11 home & 11 road games.
