I think this is the death knell for Basketball. This insanity is never ending.

Hate to see it, but good call by the HL. The safety of our student-athletes is priority #1.

I’m a betting man and my money is on that there will be a college basketball season. The president of the NCAA was on tonight and based on his comments Im optimistic we will see basketball this year. The season might be shorter and played in a bubble like the NBA is doing now but I believe we will have a season.

Wonder how we have a bubble and have student athletes away from campus/home/family for an extended period of time. Something like playing a 22 game season, 2 games a weekend with all 12 league teams in one city in a few different hotels? Indy would be atop the list, but it could be done in Chicago, Dayton, Cleveland, or Detroit just as easily. Not sure how you bubble up a regular season and then move into a semblance of a normal postseason, but any basketball is better than no basketball.

Basketball in a bubble is very possible and infinitely easier to pull off than football. I'd imagine we'd go to conference only seasons in January with a March Madness bubble for the winners.
As far as classes go, athletes already take a lot of online classes during the season. With the pandemic showing no signs of ending anytime soon, i'd imagine it'll be even easier for them to do so.
Not sure how the Horizon League will make this work financially with little to no income coming in and increased testing requirements, but the rest they could pull off relatively easily.

I’m honestly curious about this argument. In what world do athletes stop going to parties while they’re in season? My college days weren’t long ago and I seem to remember college much differently than you do.

My college days weren’t long ago and I seem to remember college much differently than you do. I think coaches have a lot more control over players in-season. This is one of the arguments Ryan Day and Scott Frost made to play football this fall. The Virus is here if they play basketball or they do not play basketball. If they cannot play sports then students should not be on campus, in class.
