Thanks to everyone here for the company in making it through this year. Going to unplug from the rest of the conference tournament because it is just too painful.
Nights like tonight make me wonder why I'm a sports fan. This is awful.

Execution on defense lost this game. It was not the coaches fault, except for not calling a timeout when the hemorrhaging points at the beginning of the big run.

So, to recap:
Quarterfinal games: one buzzer beater, one 3OT game, and the other two in single OT.
I'll be rooting for CSU. What Gates has done there is respectable and is the golden standard for what other mid major programs wish they could do.

Nights like tonight make me wonder why I'm a sports fan. This is awful. Been trying to collect my thoughts but this sums it up pretty well too. 17 point lead with under 5 minutes to play. You just can't lose a game like that. Just an unbelievable choke job - not sure how else to say it. I guess if I'm looking for a bright side at least I wasn't there watching in person I guess? Man this is disappointing. |

Given the circumstances, this has got to be the most soul crushing loss in my 25+ years of fandom. 33-9 run in last six minutes is just inexcusable.

Two thoughts. First we are rapidly developing a reputation as a choker when the chips are down. Second, we probably should not be totally shocked at this loss since we lost a number of games to supposedly inferior teams. all the hullabaloo about this team all season and nothing to show for it. We are just an underperforming program.

Agreed Keith. Worst loss I have seen and I have been a fan since I went to WSU in the Div II days. I love Coach Nagy, but to see our guys chucking up 3s like they did in the final 6 minutes and not working the clock down is inexcusable. I’m sorry, but you just don’t lose a game with that lead in that amount of time.

Long time observer but what a joke! How do you blow a 20 pt plus lead? Poor defense and a point guard that can’t get you into your offense. Trey Calvin is a decent ball handler but all point guards are. He turns the ball over too much, makes poor decisions in the passing game, and takes bad shots at even worse times. He can’t even make a simple entry pass to the big men who are your bread and butter scorers. And has anyone been paying attention to his consistently poor defense? He consistently get burned by the guy he’s guarding. He does not seem to be committed to play defense at all. What a shame that the season ends like this.
