Yep, and this one is especially painful with the way they lost and with such a great opportunity get a decent seed in the tournament.

I think that's what does it for me. I don't know if there is anything that can be said to make us feel better right now, but these quotes seem to be the same as the ones after some blown regular season games this year.

IMO we started losing last night's game about 3 months ago. I told a friend Monday night that I worried about us 'running out of gas' and what will happen if a team really presses the tempo. It was a crucial mistake to not figure out a way to get SOME minutes from the 8th or 9th guy. I hear and understand the requirement that a player must contribute defensively if they want to get on the floor. But last night - and over the past few months - I've seen plenty of guys play iffy defense and stay on the floor. We started wearing out physically long before the second half last night.
Couple the defensive-lapses noted above with turnovers and actually putting the ball in the hoop and the past three months show another lost opportunity to get help on the floor - defensively and offensively. Hubrigste and Manns are natural shooters/scorers. I don't care if Hubrigste makes freshmen mistakes on defense and I don't care if Manns sits on a chair on defense...they should have been the first two guys off the bench...the first guys off the bench are/should-be 'energy' guys who can put points on the board...they cannot be low-energy guys who turn the ball over and make poor decisions - ironically-enough on offense AND defense.
I seem to remember reading (or maybe just thinking) that we would have a somewhat deep team this year. That never materialized. The lack of a backup point guard was a concern back in early December. It was almost a miracle that no one got hurt playing so many minutes and with gaining fatigue.
I agree with the post above that we don't/didn't have a guy who could get his own shot off...Milwaukee seemed to have three. Maybe Grant, but someone has to get the ball in to him...certainly Tanner...but with Love and Basile in the lane there is usually not much room for him to impose his will in the paint. Two guys who I think are pretty good at getting a shot off are both backups and are mentioned above...one guy may be too good at it...but integrating that aspect into the offense is another lost opportunity that started 3 months ago and contributed to last night's debacle.
I'm sick to my stomach still yet this morning. From a likely 13 seed - maybe even 12 - to sitting out the post-season altogether. As others have said, I'm not in the mood right now for comments about how this will fuel the fire for next year. I'm sure it will...I just don't care to hear it right now.
Disclaimer: I'm a big fan of coach Nagy and his staff. I can be that...and still think they made mistakes starting 3 months ago that contributed to last night's performance.

Yeah it's practically impossible to lose a game with that big of a lead late. I mean, even if you just stand there and take a 30 second shot clock violation on offense every possession all you have to do is keep the other team from getting quick 3 point plays every possession on defense and they run out of time before scoring enough points to beat you.
I concur with the majority that I love Coach Nagy and hope he's here a long time. But maybe this stirs something to make him question his short bench and "letting the kids figure it instead of calling TOs" strategy that he seems to love and most fans hate.

Crazy night in the Horizon League.
I forgot the Raiders were playing last night and opened the DDN to read they blew a 24 point lead in the last 6:24. I almost couldn't believe it!
This is an epic loss, but also an epic comeback by Milwaukee. Why does Milwaukee seem to have Wright State's number over the years in the tournament it seems?
On another note, I can't help but think having fans in the stands would have sealed the deal for WSU. Maybe Milwaukee makes a run but the energy of fans I think helps WSU win this one.
I think the Horizon League not allowing any fans, even family members correct?...at any games including the final 4 in Indianapolis next week was a poor decision. Who made that decision, and was there any pushback? Most leagues have let some fans in, even if a small amount. I understand we all have different thoughts and Covid is very serious, but you have to let people live and take some minimal risks, especially in large 10,000 person stadiums where a few hundred fans could easily spread out no different than going to Walmart or Target.

I do hope Nagy stays and I think he will. But who knows...after the end of the last two seasons, and with the current cloud over WSU as an institution, you wonder if he thinks of leaving. He'd have many suitors. He's a great coach, but definitely the last two HL losses have been hard to figure out for a Coach who has had a pretty good post season track record in conference tournaments I believe from his days at South Dakota St. and early at WSU. It may be time for a change. But I think he likes the area, and is comfortable with his job, and he has a chance to win the league every year, so odds are he stays I think

I think I read that there will be an nit and it will be in Texas. Does anyone think we have a chance at that after our collapse in the postseason tourney??

If that turns out to be true big d, then I would officially label this “ the lost season”. I do not think the window has ever been more open for this program to do something in postseason. And it is wasted!
