I 100% agree. I know our staff has really struggled trying to schedule those mid tier P5 teams we could have a chance to compete with. They don’t want to schedule us. They want an easy home win for their money and they don’t think we represent that. The other problem we have is that if we don’t schedule anyone but other mid majors then we don’t have a strong enough SOS to get any post season considerations. We had a very good NET rating last year and didn’t even get an NIT invite. Feedback we got was that we didn’t play a hard enough OOC schedule. Like I said earlier, it helps our program more to get our ass kicked on the road vs a top 10 team than it does beating the crap out of Cedarville.

Man I thought Wright State might lose by 20 or 25, but to lose by over 40 is an embarrassing loss. Purdue is really good no doubt. Some lists had two of their players as preseason all-americans (Williams, Ivey).
I'd still play that game though. Lot of fans were complaining we never play anyone, so I think we got a little bit of what we want, but this team just wasn't ready for that type of competition tonight.
The score reminded me of Wright State's first NCAA loss to Indiana back in the day! I'd say this is one of the most embarrassing losses in program history, because Wright State is actually a good program. If they were a bad program it wouldn't be a big surprise to lose by that much.
But it's one game! And I do agree that it will help prepare Wright State for conference play. Hopefully they'll fare better with NC State their next Power 5 opponent I believe.

The game went pretty much as expected. Glad Purdue did not reach 100, glad WSU scored over 50. I don't disagree with this as I was thinking the same thing at the end of the game. But boy, what an embarrassing and sad comment this is for our program. Lesser programs that us had a better showing this year against this Purdue squad. That was brutal to watch. Had the DVR recording the game as I watched and stopped the recording halfway through because I knew I'd never be watching that game again. I'm not sure how much this game gets us ready for conference play since we won't really see similar talent in league play. Maybe that 5 star freshman for Milawukee I guess. Like Big D said though, maybe if it does nothing else it will knock everyone's ego down a level and get them to focus each game wihtout thinking they are good enough to win just by showing up.

I’ve been in the hospital for the last 28 days and that game was, by far, the most painful thing I’ve encountered.

Nagy said before the season started that he was concerned about defensive rebounding now that Big Lou has moved on. Last night Purdue got 18 offensive rebounds and had a total rebounding margin of +30. His fears were clearly realized last night. That was an a$$ kicking of epic proportions.

Jerry I read your four paragraphs and my one takeaway is that relative to the big boys this program has not improved one iota since we were a div i babe in 1993. We are no more competitive now than we were then.
over the years I have chafed when I read raider fans say all that matters is the conference tournament. In other words it is plain silly of raider fans to think this program should be competing for an at large bid. That always bothered me but truth is after 30+ years we are no closer to that than at the beginning of div i.
I thought the last four years we had our best chance to make a splash in postseason. Sadly we barely dented it with one ncaa tourney spot. I am not confident at all that we can do it now.
