Noel has won the award 4 times now. Vincent Brady II (IUPUI) has won it 4 times. Armon Jarrard (IUPUI) has won it twice. No other play has more than one. I would have to think that Noel would get the nod over either of the guys from IUPUI just because we're actually winning basketball games at a decent clip, but another award or two would certainly cement him in as HL Newcomer of the Year, an award last won for us by Loudon Love in the 2017-2018 season.

I think Noel would easily be given the nod over those other guys -- he's averaging 2.5 points more than Brady (16th vs 23rd in HL...Jarrad not in top 25), 3rd in HL in rebounds (those guys are both outside of top 25), leads the HL in field goal percentage (other guys???), and is 8th in league in blocks (other guys???).

Wright State offense in crunch time? ‘Give it to Trey and get out of the way’ www.daytondailynews.com/sports/wright-state-offense-in-crunch-time-give-it-to-trey-and-get-out-of-the-way/YZIDGUOIEVHBTHFSPFEGFHYGKM/Disclaimer: Although I'm sharing this, I am not in agreement with its content, publishing, nor timing. I think this underscores the poor coverage WSU gets from the DDN. This is hack journalism covering a local college team. You'd never likely see anything like this from Jablonski covering the team across town. This is irresponsible journalism, imho. Clearly the team across town gets coverage from a fan's perspective and clearly their reporter is a fan, while we have "this guy" and his bullshit agenda like he's forced to cover us. There's gotta be a better option. Again, my opinion.

The timing for the first part about Trey in crunch time is a bit odd. It would have made sense if it was published after the YSU/RMU games and before the IUPUI/NKU games. I feel like part of this was written in an article during that time frame.
The part about Trey playing another season, but not necessarily at Wright State seems to directly contradict what was reported over the past few weeks. I'm guessing there was a misunderstanding/miscommunication somewhere along the lines as I don't think any previous reporting directly quoted Trey. This might be Trey's way of correcting it ...or Trey has already heard about possibilities at other schools.
I'm not a big fan Doug's writing, but he does an OK job. I think one difference is some coaches and athletes are more tight-lipped. I'm not going to complain about the coverage. Maybe my memory is off, but I feel like there's more coverage than there's been in recent years.

Not sure how a couple of weeks ago it sounded like he was coming back but now I'd say it is already settled that he is not. And if he if is not returning, we need an impactful transfer that can create their own shot.

I have the extra COVID season and I’ll likely use it.”I mean, I guess you could do some mental gymnastics and assume "here" in that context means college as opposed to going pro. Hard to say without knowing the context of the conversation when he was quoted. Regardless, hard to misinterpret the new quotes. He's not 100% coming back to WSU but still leaning that way as of now. I suspect Nagy won't get caught by surprise this time and will try to find out for sure so we can adjust the roster for next year as needed.

Somehow I missed that quote in the Archdeacon article. The articles definitely paint a different picture around the quotes. Perhaps Trey has wavered in his plans, perhaps Trey gave off different vibes in the different interview settings, or perhaps we fans are reading too much into it and all along Trey has planned to likely return to WSU next year, but he's just waiting until after the season to make the final decision.

Noel and Drey Carter together...the thing I like about that (on paper) is the ability for WSU to switch on the perimeter. Noel is a good perimeter defender for his size. The best WSU teams had guys that 3-5 could guard anybody on the court. Again, I hope this article signals Nagy's intent to go large with Carter, Noel, and a third big (Sisley or Braun) on the court together. Especially since Noel and Sisley can shoot the 3, and hopefully so can Carter. Throw Welage out as a big point as well as Alex that is a tough lineup on both ends
